Year year school schedule effecting winter months?

Many areas around us are switching over to the year round school schedule where they have a week off in February. I was talking to a woman at the pool today and she said she hopes they do it where we leave too so they can go to WDW then instead of in the summer.
This made me think - Is this time of year getting busier since so many schools are switching over?

One bummer is we used to get out in May so we could go right before the really huge crowds came in, but with year round they get out later.

Just curious as I'm sure we would end up going in February, too at that point.

We live in upstate NY and there has never been any talk of year round school here!!!

Of course here summer is so sweet but short that no one would think of such a thing! Also all the schools would have to put in air conditioning!!! LOL!

Schools in our area have always gotten Presidents week and a week on or near Easter. It used to be Easter week but now it is a more PC third week of April (but it does get nudged up a week to coincide with Easter at times!!)

Here in MA we have always gotten Presidents Day week, and Patriots Day week(third Mon in April) off.
I believe those are both somewhat crowded weeks in WDW.

Here in NH we've always had a week off in Feb. (usually the last week of Feb) as well as a week in April (again, usually the last week in April). Airfares from the Northeast to Florida during the last 2 weeks of Feb or April are always high priced and sell out quickly. Friends who went to WDW last April break said they would never go then again due to crowds. I'm not sure about Feb., but I'd have to guess that the last 2 weeks are also crowded at the parks with Northeasterners.

DD (10) just had her last day of 4th grade today. We are in year round. She starts 5th grade 7/6

Everyplace can be different but I'm sure you would have more time off then a week in Feb. DD's school has 4 tracks. The track she is on has three week breaks scattered through the school year. She's off last two weeks of Aug and first week of Sept; three weeks in November; last two weeks of Feb and first week of March; and three weeks off in May. Plus the whole school closes now for two weeks at end of school year and closes two weeks at Christmas.

We've really enjoyed going in the off season. But there's a good chance that this 2004-2005 school year will be the last for year round. It creates problems in that only elementary is on year round and middle, high school are conventional.

I don't think year round school has caught on enough to have a large impact on travel patterns. We have a few schools here, but most of ours are still traditional.

CarolA is right. Year round school hasn't caught on enough to make a big impact on Disney World. I've been working in the field of education since the late '80s, and there are actually fewer districts discussing it now because the economy is suffering in so many areas. Plus, even if many districts are going to year round school, they all are on different schedules so they won't all have the same breaks. If anything, the Dis Board makes it sound like more and more parents are pulling their kids out of school in order to avoid the big crowds.
