Hi everyone. We are totally new to cruising. Been to WDW numerous times, but this is all new (and in true Disney fashion, completely overwhelming! lol).

We are going to book an April 2019 cruise this fall once the dates are released. I was just wondering whether or not the ships/ports stay the same year over year. For example, April 2018 shows the Fantasy sailing to Cozumel, Grand Cayman, Falmouth and Castaway Cay. Will this change for 2019? or do they keep it the same?

Thanks!

The 'standard' cruise stays the same. They do have the occasional 'special' cruise where they throw in a different port but for the most part what you listed above is it. Falmouth was new a few years ago but that's pretty much the big change over the last five years or so.
You could probably plan around that and be safe.

1 ship doing 3 and 4 night Bahama cruises (currently Dream)
1 ship doing 7 night eastern and western (currently Fantasy)
  • Eastern now is: Tortola, St Thomas and Castaway Cay
  • Western now is: Grand Cayman, Cozumel and Castaway Cay. Many cruise will have Jamaica
1 ship doing Alaska in the summer and possibly California Coast and / or Mexican Rivera in May, Sept, Oct. And then back to the Caribbean for shorter (3,4, or 5 nights) out of Galveston, Miami or Port Canaveral (currently Wonder)
1 ship spending summers in Europe: Med, Northern Europe / Baltic, Norway, or British Islands. Fall, Winter, Spring doing shorter cruises out of Galveston, Miami or Port Canaveral (currently Magic)

one of the ships (Magic or Wonder) has been sailing out of Puerto Rico for a few sailing in January / February for the past / next several years.

I don't expect much changes from these general itineraries.

Thanks so much! This is very helpful :)

Sorry, just to confirm - the boat stays the same too? So it will be the Fantasy that does the 7-night Western Caribbean?

In 2016, Fantasy and Magic flip flopped their Western and Eastern itinerary every week in the spring. It's hard to say if that could happen again.

Yes, the Fantasy mainly alternates 7-night Western and Eastern Caribbean cruises year round with just a very few speciality cruises, typically in the summer (for example, one each 10- and 11-night Southern Caribbeans in summer 2017 and one 11-night Southern in summer 2018). All are Port Canaveral based.

Both Magic and Wonder have or will do Western Caribbean cruises varying from 4-, 5-, and 7-nights and sailing out of Galveston (Wonder) and Miami (Magic). The Wonder will do a couple of Westerns from Port Canaveral in February of 2018 as well.
