Year of Million Dreams -- anyone else get something yet? Post your wishes won here!

We won the lanyards with the 2 pins getting off Spaceship Earth during our trip a couple weeks ago. I was so excited.

They also informed us while we were there that they were originally planning the Year of a Million Dreams celebration for 18 months but are extending it for another year. It sounded to me like it will go through most of 2008. I'm not 100% certain of this, though.

While on the Keys to the Kingdom tour, we saw the family chosen to stay in the castle that night. It was awesome to see their expressions.

This story happened before the year of a Million Years but I figure I would share it just because to the family that this happened to it was a sad moment but also a happy one as well. Last June I was working at the Celebration hospital which is a hospital that is owned and operated by Disney World and I remember all the comotion around this little 10 year old girl that they were bringing from MK, Once I started talking to the parents they let me knw that they had come to Walt Disney World to have a last family vacation with their little daughter bc she had terminal Cancer and did not have very long to life, at that time I was already in tears bc here was this little girl dressed like Cinderella that should be healthy and in the park but intead she was dying. Her father was talking to me about how dissapointed he was that she never got to see cinderella bc she started feeling sick before they could get to the castle for their lunch. So I got together with my supervisor and we called MK showtime which are the CM's in charge of the princess's and caracters we told them what was going on and in less than an hour a Disney van pulled up in front of the hospital and out comes Cinderella, I could not believe how fast they got here. I was so excited I will never forget the look on that little girl's face when see saw Cinderella in front of her, she was so happy! her parents were in tears and I'm sure that they will never forget disney for going out of their way to make his daughter happy. Cinderella sat by the little girl for about an hour til she told cinderella that she was really tired and that she wanted to go to bed, unfortunately later that day the little girl passed away, but her family were all smiling because they said that she died happy and that's why they choose to travel to Disney.

I love Walt Disney World because they truly make dreams come true.

You've got me crying, too. I am a nurse and I work with cancer patients.....this story touches my heart. That was so sweet and thoughtful of Disney to make her little dream come true. Wow....how amazing for you to be able to experience that.

WOW.......I can't even Imagine being in that type of situation........I have a 5 year and a 1 year old...........i mean I would do anything to make them happy......when I brought my oldest to disney for the first time in 2003 I teared when I was hearing his reaction to the fireworks with that (whoa.....) he was 2 at the time..........you can only imagine what this story did to me......talk about getting choked up and teary eyed.....:sad1: .......i am just glad that the girl was able to meet Cinderella and that she spent a good amount of time with her..........it just make me love disney even more.......thanks for the story

It's pretty amazing, it's something that I will never forget, after that day I knew that I was going to be a CM for as long as I live in the Disney area, I have just recently moved to Tampa Florida which is 45 minutes from Orlando but I only moved bc I could still work for Disney there in the Reservation Center, so when you guys call to book your trip you could be speaking to me:banana:

My boyfriend proposed to me last week when we were at Epcot. He knew I really wanted to get a picture with The Beast, Belle and Aurora. He talk to the cast member with Aurora and told her he was getting ready to propose to me and wanted to know if Aurora could come and pose with The Beast and Belle. She originially told him no, that they can't allow characters to pose like that. A few minutes later, she came back over and said since it was a special occasion, she was going to allow for Aurora to pose with Belle, The Beast and us. It was such a magical moment to have my boyfriend propose with some of my favorite characters watching, and I'm so grateful in that cast members help in making that moment even more special for us!

Wow what a wonderful husband you have, I wanted to cry when I saw your picture :0)

OMG! I can't wait more... I wish a castmember can make me a dream come true... and I'll love to take a pic with Mickey!!! and to see Fantasmic!!!
and I almost forgot, to ride The Rock and Roller Coaster!!! it's awesome.. I love Aerosmith!!!

I love to read all your stories and they are soo cool... I hope I can get one too....
nice to meet you everyone!!! hugs and kisses!!

I was at DW last week. The whole trip was magical including a few dreams.

We used map quest for directions to POR...I have driven before, but usually from Tampa...this time we came straight from Dallas. When we were less than a mile away, my ds14 said there is no way we are near Disney...you couldn't see a thing...but then we saw Dopey Dr...lol. The directions took us to the cast member entrance. The lady at the gate was so nice...she said we were at the CM entrance and was nice as could be..talked to my little ones for a while and gave them stickers...no biggie...but it was a great magical start.

At MK one day, we were sitting and waiting for the parade when someone asked us to do a survey. He asked the age of my DH and I said that today he was 41, but Wednesday he would be 42...he asked his name and left. About 1/2 an hour later, he came back with a birthday button for DH.

One day while at MGM, DH and DD won dream fast passes on tower of terror. DD was soooo excited.

At AK, we went and rode the train and on the way back, DS7 had his birthday button on. CM at train depot told him happy birthday and then gave him the two tinkerbell pins. After that he let all 4 of my children blow the whistle on the train and gave them Magical Moments certificates. Later at AK, we went to see Mickey. Mickey conducted Happy Birthday song and had everyone in the line singing (I was in tears of course) and then when we were finished taking pictures, the dream team was there giving away lanyards...we got 6 of them.

3 of my kids also got magical moments certificates for playing tic tac toe with cm in store after Figment. We have been to DW several times and have never seen Figment and we finally got a picture with him...that is one of our favorite rides.

This one isn't so big...but we went for our priority seating at castle about 20 min early. They told us we wouldn't be called for at least 20 minutes so we went to ride carousel. When we got back, they had already called us. We missed sitting with our friends, but we got a seat right by the window and they were stuck by the wall on the side of the restaurant.

I'm sure there were more...but it was a very magical trip for all....DH is new to the family and Disney and he had a great time as well.

We just got back today....I'm bummed already! Our trip was great, and we definitely had some magical moments. We had dinner at the Garden Grill our first night there, and our waiter brought Tinkerbell pins for all 3 kids. The kids also got Mickey stickers from the CM at the stroller return at Epcot. The best was yesterday at AK! The whole family won Dream Fastpasses....it was awesome! I can't wait to go back.

Me and my son were getting off the train at MK and they handed everyone a dream magic hour wristband that was getting off- I asked if I could have an extra one for my wife (she was at work) and they gave it to me. This was today- we're going tonight! I just hope I can keep my son awake for that long because it starts at 11:00 pm :)

We bought ours at MK just a month ago.... one by a store near the castle and the other in toon town. They charged us $2 at both places.

This is a great thread, it reminds us of why we LOVE Disney and keep going back for more.
The best things happen when you don't expect them. I think we DIS members should challenge ourselves to find special moments on our trips and report back. It doesn't have to be from a CM, it could be another guest doing something nice, it could be a moment that you witness but aren't a part of. We have too much negativity on the boards at times and I think it would really help to balance it.

I think every time we have been to the World something special has happened. We even had a great report when we let my nephew and his family stay at our OKW home. Getting off the bus at OKW his daughter fell and skinned up her knee. Being a drama princess: she cried most of the way back to the villa. My nephew decided she did need a band aid and called the front desk for assistance. Within a few minutes there was a knock on the door. There stood a CM with not only a band aid, but also a Mickey balloon and a signed photo of the Fab Five.

Events like this happen numerous times a day at WDW and this was not even during TYOMD.

We just got back yesterday after a 10 day "graduation" trip! Saturday was our last day in the parks and we were picked as FAMILY OF THE DAY!!:cool1:  We were just standing at the rope drop and a CM came over to ask how many were in our party and then ASKED if we would like to be FAMILY OF THE DAY!! While I was screaming for my oldest daughter to join us (she had planned to go get fast passes for Test Track, while we rode Soaring) - my husband asked "what is it?" I gave him a look - like what does it matter!!!:rotfl:
We were let past the rope and given a special button to wear. The CM asked if we were going to be staying for the fireworks and when we told him yes, he wrote our name down to be in the "reserved area" of Italy to watch them!!! :woohoo: This was great as we always spend our last night watching EPCOTS fireworks!! Then all the characters came out and we got a photo with ALL of them at once Mickey, Minnie,Goofy, Pluto, Chip and Dale!! We got 2 fast passes to be used on any fast pass ride, and then the test track car came out and we got to ride in the car!!!
The plan was to ride over to TT and be the first to ride it - but of course it was broke down! The CM comes over and says - there has been a changed of plans - TT is down so we are going to take you over to Mission Space! My family said in unison NOOOOO!! (We did not like this ride in 2005!)After the surprise look left the CM face, he explained that was the only area the car could go in so it would have to go that way and "put us out". Well on the ride over, we decided to try the mild version of MS and it really wasn't that bad - but back to our dream come true adventure:wizard:.

When we arrived at MS, Linda was our "super greeter" and she led us through to the control room of MS!! We went through that door that is usually forbidden to us!! We were then led back to the ride - after we rode MS, Linda met us again and was apologizing that Test Track was down and reached in her bag and gave us MORE fast passes!! The day was great from there on - no lines for us, dinner at Garden Grill and a reserved spot to watch the fireworks! It was magical!:wizard: A great way to end our trip.:wizard: Full trip report (with photos! coming as soon as I finish the :laundy: :scared: )

I love Walt Disney World because they truly make dreams come true.

Stories like this are the ones I love to tell people who dis disney. This was truly a bittersweet story, but every day people at WDW go that extra mile to make people's dreams come true.

We got back saturday from an 7 day trip. We met some friends down there. Unfortunitally my DH could only be with us on the weekend because he had to work during the week. The only pixie dust we recieved was that my DD10 won 2 pins from a CM for answering a couple of questions correctly. We still had a magical time. One of our friends got choosen to be in the Indiana Jones show. Now we are counting down to first week of December for the next trip. :cool1:

Honestly, how is Disney ever going to top this theme in years to come?!

Our "dream" happened as were heading into AK---a nice visitor asked us if we wanted his family's dream passes---uh, yeah! Headed directly to Expedition Everest---dream come true beginning of our day!
 Thanks, nice man!

When we were at WDW last November, my DD2 was approached outside of Goofy's barnstormer by a CM. I instantly was aware because she was bending down whispering to her... She then announced to the crowd that My daughter was the "Official cotton candy Taste Tester" of the day. She made a huge deal of it, had the crowd cheer & clap, had a ceremony on the spot that ended with my DD tasting and approving of the cotton candy. Afterwards, the CM gave her a certficate and the bag of cotton candy. We visited during a pretty slow time of year, and we really stood out; my DD2, owns and wore a different princess dress (Walmart $18) every day and my other DD14 broke her ankle a week before and was in a wheelchair... I think the combination got us a lot of extra attention from the CM's and characters, which really made for a magical trip. I'll have to ask my DD's about the other YOMD moments we had.... because my brain is mush! :headache:

Believe it or not our family has been fortunate enough to win three times:cool1: the first time was in the Animal Kingdom In the Tusker House, my daughter won a cup cake from Tinkerbell:goodvibes the second time was last May we were in the Magic Kingdom next to the teacups when a CM came up to us and ask if we wanted to have an unbirthday party. She then gave us a picture of Alice in Wonderland along with a certificate and took us to the head of the line, had us pick out the teacup we wanted to ride in, then she introduced us to the other guest :goodvibes The thirdtime was also last May we had just got off Big Thunder Mountain when we were stopped and handed silver and blue mouseears!!!!:cool1: This really made my daughters day:banana:

I didnt get an official dream while i was there, but on our last day, my friend and i were headed to EPCOT for the final park before we left the next day...There was a nice family on the monorail that had the dream ears on and we got to talking with them..the dad was a firefighter (my dad and brother are firefighters) --we told the kids we loved their hats and they were so sweet ...as we g ot off the monorail, the dad said they had actually won the hats twice so the four of them had 8 hats..he reached in his bag and gave my friend and i each a hat! then he said "i would love to do this for a "brother's" daughter"--it was so sweet and it really shows the firemen family!
