I am going for a physical at a new internist in 2 weeks. I havent had a physical in probably 5 or 6 years (I'm 20).

I see specialists all the time but I havent actually had a full physical in a loooong time.

Does the physical consist of anything else besides vitals, and labs?

Y'might want to indicate your gender, for those who don't know you well.

They listen your heart, feel your abdomen, look in your ears and mouth. My doctor does a breast exam.

I just had one after a similar lapse. They did labs...LOTS of labs! They even tested blood sugar and I did the EKG...no rectal though....:scared1: They were going to do a mole-check, but it it was lost in the shuffle and was done later. I did do a follow-up with the PA for all the GYN stuff. They seemed thorough, since it was a new doctor. The only advice I have is to brush up on family medical history, in case it comes up.

I hope yours goes well.

Ditto on everyone. Plus, as senior mine always includes an EKG, Dr. also feels around thyroid and nodes, listens to breathing front/back and has me cough.
Breast and other more personal exams are left for annual gyno exam. Good luck! :goodvibes

Well if you are a female then be prepared for a pap smear (if your internist does it, mine does), also Blood pressure, EKG..these are a few things I would do if you were my patient....if you are Male just a normal BP, heart sounds lung sound thyroid check, and a slew of labs (this is also if you are a female)...BTW it is in your benefit to get a pap (if you are female) they can catch cancer or abnormal growths (you need to have this every year), they will also check your cholesterol (male and female)

I go every year to get my meds renewed.......temp, blood pressure, ears, lungs (listens with a scope), blood draw, urine, lots of talking. That's it.
Gyno is separate doctor.

Besides what was said above, they'll check to see that your immunizations are up to date. If you haven't had the Gardasil vaccine, you should probably read up on it as they'll be offering it to you. Same with Influenza and H1N1 vaccines.
