When we were active duty MP's in the Army we had to train at the same base in CA-and DH was so happy to leave CA and never see that place again-and then the Navy does there training AT's there
he didn't like the last AT at all-they made them put on full battle gear every time they went outside-even if it was for a quick BR break at 2am-and the weather was crappy-raining and cold
I kind of enjoy the drill weekends... have the house to myself for a few days!!!! when we lived in mississippi and he had drill it was only about 15 miles away so he came home at night.
Mine keeps considering reenlisting-especially since the unit is all training and they wont ship him if he re-enlists in April to join them-plus the bonus they are offering-but I keep telling him no way!!!
YUCK... i remember hearing dh talk about the cold nights and the rain...
the last mine fex they went on dh hurt his knee and got to come in out of the field... he was kind of glad because that night it rained and rained and they were in the small tents ( i believe they are called shelter halfs)

The Guard was offering dh a sign on bonus and it was $$$$$... i was trying to talk him into that but he said the unit he would join gets deployed to much!
He was lucky -mine had to sleep in those tiny tents-and yes there called Shelter halves(each soldier has a half and you share them to make a tent) but my DH bought a small camo tent(9.99) I laughed so hard because when he got it home-I noticed it was a GI Joe Kids tent -he didn't care and a couple other guys bought them too-he just threw it away afterwards since it was all muddy and not worth saving
