That's a nice tuba. I don't have my own, but our school has 2 Besson three valve compensating tubas (piston), and on V & E Cerveny 4 valve (rotary)

Luckily though, last marching season we borrowed a Jupiter sousphone from another school and I got to use it. It's in pretty good shape.

I was lucky, SIU had a great selection of "rental" tuba's prob beacause we didn't have too many when I was there, but It took me all of college to save up for mine, but my senior year, I was able to play it during our last "recitals" (yes, music minor) and then in grad school I played in the wind ensemble, but now I just take it out to relieve stress, and play in the community band (oh, and I have been the substitute Tuba player at the HS I teach at during years when no one wanted to learn the tuba)

of course, what self-respecting tuba player (living near a major city) hasn't done it!!!!

I started doing tuba christmas in 1986-- I won't say how old I was then, but I was playing the tuba way before college.

I think I have scarves in red and green that say tubachristmas somewhere.... I think I need to wear those again.

Yea I did it the for the first time this year. I was gonna do another TubaChristmas the week before that, but a friend, who plays sousaphone in marching, and contra bass clarienet during concert, needed a tuba to use for it and I didn't want to play a sousaphone so I didn't do that one. I want to go to the one in NYC sometime.
