Wow! This week is flying by... I sure hope this isn't any indication of how the summer will be!

So, anyone have big plans for today?

Nothing major here.. I'm listening to the sirens go out in town praying it's not our oldest hurt in the driver's ed car.. Oh, someone help me get through this! I'm friends with the driver's ed instructor so I'm thinking I may have to take her to dinner after this 14 day course.. Yes, 14 days.. I thought it was a lot longer for me...and I'm a good driver..so a crash course in driver's ed really worries me! :guilty:

Hope everyone has a warm and wonderful day!!

To those on vacation have fun!!!
KAMommy, StitchIsOurHero and JennyL are all headed to the World!!
(sorry if I missed anyone.)

a crash course in driver's ed
:lmao:

When I took drivers ed in high school, it seemed like it was half a year - two terms. They even brought the simulation trailer to campus for a couple of weeks so we could practice with the films before actually getting into a car. I hated those films of crashes they made us watch.

Don't worry - everything will be fine.

:rotfl2: :lmao:

We have Baccalauteate Mass tonight for DS. It's his bday today too...18. Crazy hectic day for me...and Dh's car screwed up, so he took mine... :confused3 So that messed up my morning plans...

And, like there wasn't enough going on...DH opened the garage door, and it went off the track (due to those boxes for DS14's social)...sheesh...

Well, gotta keep your sense of humor right? :rotfl: Another week of this and I'm free for the summer!

All that just this morning! Yes, we have to keep our sense of humor otherwise we'd be bouncing off the walls!! Off to cook lunch! I hope your afternoon gets better!!!

It's a great day. I am back from a youth retreat (with tons of left over food). I have a couple of days to recover and then we are off for a quick trip to the world this Friday and Saturday.

Good luck with the driver's ed and garage doors. Neither sound like fun.

My Wed's not going so hot. Had a migraine, took a pill, now feeling a little woozy.

I'm worried about my oldest daughter, 25. She lives near Portland, OR and decided to go cabin camping at a state park by herself. Told me she'd call when she got there and I haven't heard from her. That was yesterday afternoon. Now there may not be any service in the area but she's not that far away from an area I know has service so why hasn't she called? Logic says she's fine but the anxious mother in me is worried which is probably why I had a migraine. She didn't call her dad either.

Any reassuring thoughts out there? Sorry I sound selfish - I too remember Driver's Ed days and they weren't as bad as I had expected.

Wow! Everyone seems to be headed to the world this week! I wonder if any of you will run into one another... :confused3 :teeth:

Have a safe trip!!!

Well, I need to run to town when he got home and he tried getting in the driver's seat.. I laughed at him.. told him NO WAY.. he needs alot more hours under his belt and NOT in my Mommy mobile.. I need it to transport 4 other kids and anyone else that is over.. There are 5 kids from the neighborhood here today alone! I think they think my house is party central.. :rolleyes1

Vanyel, I would be freaked out too. You are not alone, I hope you hear from her soon so you can relax. No matter how old they are, they are always our babies, aren't they?

We are heading home soon to pack the car and then get up at the crack of still dark to head to Orlando. I don't care how early it might be, I am going to Disney World!!!!

I'd be worried too!! Acutally, I'm now worried with you!!! But she is fine.. just keep telling yourself that.. I'd probably be hijacking her cell phone with voice messages too.. :grouphug:

Well, day one in driver's ed went well.. He was only passed once he said! If the teacher doesn't talk to them than they passed for the day.. The teacher just told him to tell me that he didn't hit any sidewalks! :rotfl2: We let him pull the van in from the street to the drive... well, he managed to jump the drive and park on our sidewalk and nearly hit the house.. Now, get this.. DH decides he is going to stop the van by jumping in front of it! DUH! He didn't hit anything or DH; no damage..but it is the last time I've let him drive MY vehicle...and I think I spent the rest of the evening re-living DH believing he was going to stop a mini-van from hitting the house! :lmao:

Have a safe trip!!! I can only imagine your kids acting like that commercial where they are too excited to sleep.. that would so be my kids! :teeth:

:woohoo:

Our school district puts on a 3-day convocation where you can go to classes and earn points or credit hours for advancement and certificate renewal. so I am going all three days and earning two graduate credits. I just wrote my reflections for one of the credits. will do the second after tomorrow's classes and then will be done and can enjoy the friday sessions! :sunny:

:moped: Just driving by to say hi! Problems with busy server, so I am trying to do a quick catch up! I hope it was a great day! :goodvibes

Thanks for all the "Mom" concern. DD's fine and called me right when we sat down to eat dinner. There was no cell service where she was at and she didn't think I'd worry, even though she'd told me she'd call when she got there. And then she went hiking this am, by herself, and again, didn't think about me worrying in Indiana!

She was supposed to stay 2 nights but checked out early because "it was too isolated and lonely". Exactly what I worried about!

And I left 3 voice messages, 1 text message, and called too many times to count. I even called my logical girlfriend who was worried!

All of you heading to WDW, have a great time! And for all of you with kids still at home, give them an extra hug for me!

I'll give them an extra hug as soon as they come in!!! I'm so glad to hear that she got you called! Darn storms are headed in down here so I can't stay on long! But I was thinking about you all day wondering if she had called..

vanyel--I just checked in on this thread. I'm glad your daughter is ok! I would have been worried, too! DH & I don't have kids, but I have 6 girls I coached from 6th grade through graduation who I feel like are my "babies". I make them call when they leave whatever we are doing and then get home safely. I understand!

As far as driver's ed. . .your children cannot do worse than I did! I took driver's ed as a sophomore (the semester I turned 15--my birthday is in Sept., and I was one of the youngest in my class). My partner had driven a lot. On the first day we drove, the teacher had him drive out one of the streets, turn off on a side street, turn the car around in the road (we lived in a SMALL town), and then he and I were to switch so I could drive it out. I thought (not much driving experience!) that he had already cut the wheel for me. I just pushed the gas, and . . .you guessed it! DROVE THE DRIVER'S ED CAR INTO THE DITCH!!! :lmao: I work at that school now, and our current driver's ed teacher is the son of the woman who taught me. Every time he complains about a student's driving INability, I say. . .just call your mom!

Thought I'd give you all a laugh for this evening!

:rotfl: I just got a perfect visual with that description! Wow! That is definitely a small town.. Your driver's Ed teacher's son is now teaching driver's ed... Well, one of the driver's ed teachers showed up yesterday but he doesn't teach driving til next week.. so he was not a happy camper! The kids all thought it was a riot that he showed up and wasn't suppose too.. :rolleyes1

Have a great day!

Thanks everyone for the pixie dust pixiedust: The consensus from my dh & ex-dh was that I slightly, only slightly though, overworried but hey, I'm her mom! I couldn't call my mom because she's having too many worries of her own right now with some other things and she didn't need this too so I really, really appreciated being able to share w/ you guys!

StitchIsOurHero - I worry about the college students that I supervise as if they're my own so I know what you mean.

PrincessNancy96 - where in IN do you live? I'm in NWI and I wondered if we're neighbors? Don't worry too much about Driver's Ed!

Thanks All.

Cathy

I'm on the West of Indy about 15 miles.. a little town called Danville... DH is from NW Indiana (Plymouth area)...

Thanks for the reassurance w/ driver's ed.. I thought that this was a milestone I would enjoy...but now I understand why mom's worry as much as we do! I've been told several times.. the toughest job in the world is being a mother because even when they grow up.. they are still your babies regardless of their age!

AMEN!! Last night, seeing my baby in his cap and gown did me in..."Congratulations to the Class of 2006" the priest said and I started crying :sad:I looked at my firend, yup she was crying too:sad: My DH was in the middle, and just shaking his head :sad2: :grouphug: Watching them be so excited as you remember them toddling away from you is just so hard sometimes...

The Driver's Ed thing was hard too...Our saying was "Just because the state says you can drive doesn't mean we do. Driving is a privilege not a right". We must have said it alot because I started saying it to DS14 the other day, and he quoted me...finished the whole thing word for word

Vanyel- Glad DD finally called. What a relief!
