I just made ressies for Oct at Yacht Club for hubby and myself with the Fairytale pkg. 2 questions: Other option was Beach club or Animal Kingdom Lodge. Did I make right choice? ALso , about Silver add-on; is it worth it and did anyone get an extra discount with Disney club card for Add -on? We always stayed at Moderate resorts. Hope this is not too "stuffy" for us. [COLOR=darkred Need info ASAP to send deposit. HELP

I don't know about the packages but if you're worried about the Yacht Club being to stuffy then i recommend the Beach Club, it is very informal and relaxed, it's even closer to EPCOT.:earsboy:

I LOVE the YC! Yes, some people do think it's "stuffy" ... I don't think so though. I think it's because of the theming that people jump to that conclusion. We have found it fairly quiet both times we stayed there.

As far as the silver plan goes. It really depends on how you plan to use the wishes. If you plan on ordering expensive meals than it could be worth it. We considered the silver plan and decided that with having kids that it would be a waste.

Each adult wish costs $34.00! So if you do Hoop de doo for example that would be a great deal. Some meals do cost you 2 wishes though.

I think the best way to decide is to figure out what you would use your wishes on and see if they cost more than $34.00

Good luck!

The YC tends to be more business-oriented -- I've noticed lots of business-types and convention attendees there. To me it did feel "stuffy", but I am more of a laid-back type person and all the oak & veneers just felt a little pretentious to me. The staff were great; loved the room, the view, the service.

On our last trip we stayed at the BC and loved it. More relaxed atmosphere; easy walk to Epcot; great transportation; loved the theming.

If I had to choose between AKL and BC, I'd go with BC.

We (my DW and I) did a silver add-on on our last trip. We used the wishes for lots of meals at places we've never gone to before. It was great ordering lots of great meals. We also got some nice souveniers, too. You have to be careful and use the wishes well to max out their value. Some meals take 2 wishes, like Yachtsman Steak House, but it is worth it.

I agree that the silver add on is worth it, if you choose carefully, and would normally order big meals anyway. Go see La Nouba! Great show. :)

Although we haven't had a chance to stay there yet, we would choose YC over BC because more of the rooms have full sized balconies with chairs (vs just room to stand on some BC ones) and all the rooms have 2 queen beds. Some BC rooms have 2 doubles.

I honestly don't think the silver add-on is worth it. The extras seem to be cheaper to me if you just pay as you go. Unless you expect to use the extras for the most expensive restaurants and get priority seatings for those, then you're really not saving money.

Can you do a Silver-add on for selective members of your group? I.e. just my wife and I and not my kids? Or is it an all or nothing add on?

Thanks,

GT

We opted for silver because for two of us is was $952. After you factor in 2 round of golf and 1 private lesson, (value: $250) for Hubby, and 2 spa treatments and a tour for me (Value $167) that leaves 22 wishes divided into $535 = Meals for about $24.31 (Approx.) Think that's a pretty good deal for us, now we don't need to play golf, go to spas, etc. - but that's what a vacation is for!

For something special...why not?

Gasman55--we asked the same question and no you cannot, you have to purchase the silver plan for all party members. We were told however that the wishes are combined into one central file so you can use them how you like (I just got clarification of this from guest service too). For instance..go to dinner and use the wishes for yourself and spouse, pay cash for the child (meals are usually $5-10) this way you use your wishes for more expensive items...or for two wish resturants. We like to eat well, I figured out the cost and if we add DDs in and use them for us, it is well worth it.

While I know you can pay cash for the kids meals, I've also read here that you cannot use kids wishes for adult meals. I don't know if this is true or not, but I have heard it was a problem for some people who though adults could eat on the kids wishes. Just thought I'd mention it. :)

Another thing that's worth 2 wishes is La Nouba. I don't know which kind of seating you get, but the cheapest seats are $72 (+ tax).

I was told you could use kids wishes for adults!! Anyway you choose was how it was worded to me. Does anyone know or is it another clarifcation thru quest services???

I was told by Guest Services that the wishes may be used as you like, and as noted in an earlier post, I was told the wishes were combined in one central file.

I read in another thread--I think it was on the Restaurant Board--that you should just alert the service when ordering which meals (adult) would be paid for with wishes--and which meals would be paid for with cash.

Definitely do the Silver upgrade. Worth every penny - get PS's at the high end places and have fun.

I finally got an answer from quest services. Initially that just gave me what is on the website for the silver plan. In case anyone is interest here it goes....

"Thank you for contacting WALT DISNEY WORLD!

It is not necessary for everyone in the party to use a magical wish at a dining location. Please advise the server of the items which you wish to have on a regular check, and you may pay that check separately. "

This answered my questions hope it helps someone else.

Just thought I'd post a link to the Silver Plan thread here on the Dis: click here to go to it. There is lots of informative info in that thread (restaurant list, recreation list, merchandise list, theme park tour list, etc.).

mep, I knew that you could pay for a meal instead of using a wish, but I'm still not sure that you can use a child's wish for an adult meal. I've heard that you can't and somehow your account knows the difference. That's what I'd be worried about.

I was too but I emailed both Dreams Unlimited (who is handling my arrangements) and Disney. Both said they are deposited into a direct account and can be used as you like, and spoke directly to using DD wishes for myself & DH. I'm keeping a copy of the email to take with me in case there are any problems.
Here is a copy of the email from DU...I printed the one from Disney and deleted it!!
