YC vs CSR

I am trying to take advantage of the latest discounts offered by WDW and found that I could move up to the YC for just a bit more than CSR. I am going solo and will have a rental car. What do you suggest? Spend the extra money or save it and stick with the moderate?

To me, it depends on how much you mean by "just a bit more". That can be a rather relative concept.

Cost will be about $90 more per night. I have stayed at POR, CSR (back in 1999), and my last stay was at AKL.

$90/night can be substantial, if staying a week or more. $630 difference for a week's stay.

However, given all that BC/YC offer versus a moderate, I'd probably go for it if I could afford it.

Another factor to consider is what time of year you're going. Will the weather that time of year be conducive to swimming? If not, I might not go for it, as the Stormalong Bay pool is the best pool in all of WDW. I'd hate to pay a premium for the pool and be too cold to enjoy it.

Yet another factor to consider is the fact that you can walk 5 minutes into EPCOT from there, or walk 10-15 minutes or boat into MGM. Is that important to you, or would busing to these parks be alright?

Assuming the time you're going is swimming weather, I'd probably spend the extra $$$ for YC. If not, I'd stick with CSR.

I am going in December so I suspect the pool will not be a big feature other than checking it out. My primary motivation is location, location, location and a bit of an upscale hotel experience.

I am only staying for a long weekend. You make some really good points and I thank you.

If not using the pool, and location is the biggest factor, I'd suggest looking into Swan or Dolphin, as I keep reading about how they can be had for much less than the WDW resorts. And you get the same location benefits as the other EPCOT area resorts. They look pretty nice to me, but I've never stayed at Swan or Dolphin. Beach Club is our experience in the EPCOT area.

Book YC. If the primary reason is location, YC (and all the Epcot resorts) have the best location at WDW, as two parks are walkable there and the other two are relatively short bus rides away. If the $90/night is not a big isue, definitely do YC.

I looked into the Swan/Dolphin as well and found some good prices. But once you add in the parking fee you get really close to the discounted rate at YC. Well the feedback has been great and I think I will splurge and do the YC. Plus, as a solo, I don't have to walk far to find something to see and do. Great job folks I appreciate the help.

If you are not driving, you will have to pay for airport transportation to the Swan or Dolphin.

i vote for yc! it is a very beautiful resort and the location can't be beat. if you can afford it, a deluxe is such a nice way to treat yourself!

If I were going on a solo or adults-only trip, Yacht Club/Beach Club would be my top choice. That way, you can sample the food & drinks of the World Showcase without a thought to driving back to your resort!

Upgrade to the YC,as stated the location can't be beat.Why not use Magical Express to off set some of the extra costs?

You guys are the best! I agree that YC is the way to go. I was watching a video a friend sent me as they were walking out the door to the boat dock. The idea of looking at that every morning instead of a bit of theming and then the parking lot at CSR is worth the price right there. Very excited and I can not wait. Thanks.

Well if Buzz2001 says to go to YC how can one argue with that! Your CSR website is great and very, very helpful. If anyone is even thinking about CSR they owe it to themselves to visit.
