I posted this over the weekend, but I'm still having a hard time deciding where I want to stay. DH & I currently have a reservation for a 4-night stay at the WL, but for some reason I'm having second thoughts. I've always liked the look of the YC/BC, and I'm thinking of switching my reservation from a Courtyard view at the WL to a Standard view at the YC. Please help with some pros & cons of the 2 resorts.

Here are our plans...
On the first day we're going to AK in the morning, and hopping to MGM in the afternoon for an ADR at the Brown Derby and Fantasmic. Our second park day will be at Epcot, and we have an ADR at Chefs de France. We plan to be at Epcot all day and stay for Illuminations. Our third and last day will be at MK, and we have an ADR at Kona. We'll probably take a break before dinner and use the monorail to resort hop and check out the GF, Contemporary, and the Poly.

We will have a car and don't mind using it to get to the parks if that's easiest, except we'll use Disney transportation for MK.

Since it's just the 2 of us, we'd like a resort that's good for couples. The only musts as far as room are at least a queen bed and a balcony. We'd like a fridge...both resorts have them, don't they.

We've never stayed on property before, so I'm very excited, but I'm also having a TERRIBLE time making up my mind!:confused3

I am personally a HUGE WL fan. I love the atmosphere. Even on rainy days, you can sit in the lobby by the fireplace, tour the lodge, or even hunt for hidden mickeys. We stayed there on our 1st anniversary, and it is now our very favorite resort.

From your post, it sounds like you will be spending more time around Epcot & MGM. I think that BC might be more convenient to those parks. I have never stayed there before, but it looks like a beautiful resort. I don't know anything about what their standard view is like - maybe someone else can tell you more about that. You might try looking at www.allears.net. They have great pictures and info about all of the resorts. With that being said, I have stayed in a courtyard view room at WL. We have always had a great view, and loved watching the water parade from our balcony.

Good Luck with your decision. They are both beautiful resorts!

Another vote for WL, this is our favorite resort also!

You may need a Map of the WDW property if you don't already have it:thumbsup2

I also love WL, but given your personal situation I would vote for YC. The YC area is great for couples. It's an elegant resort that is about a 5-minute walk from the Boardwalk where there are a few clubs and ongoing entertainment such as magicians on the Boardwalk and small shows like that. It offers a stunning view being on the water. Also, given your itinerary, after the Fantasmic show at MGM, you can just take a boat back to YC. Then the next night after Illuminations, you can just walk back to YC. It's a very convenient area to stay, plus very romantic and beautiful. Therefore, my vote is for YC.

I just stayed at the WL for the first time. And while I loved the resort, I don't think I'll ever leave the Ecot area resorts again simply for ease of access to Epcot and MGM. I love being able to scoot over to Epcot for a margarita or to the Boardwalk just for fun.

So, another vote for the YC.

Both resorts are nice, but I would go with the YC. It seems more "adult" to us and has fewer kids running through the lobby. It's also very convenient to Epcot.

I've stayed at both and YC wins hands down for me.

Both are great resorts but for couples BC would be my choice. Walking to WS is hard to beat!

I love WL....

Given you circumstances though...I would pick YC.

We've stayed at both resorts several times. The Yacht Club is more "adult friendly" than the Wilderness Lodge, however we don't stay there for that reason. We love the convenience of being within walking distance of Epcot and being close to some nice restaurants. Enjoy!

We've been to both WL & BC just Dh and I and as much as we love both resorts with your 4 days I would recommend BC, easy to get everywhere, able to walk to places and on your MK day you could take the monorail to or from epcot (or both ways) and also check out resorts on monorail loop. Just another option. All three resorts won't dissapoint you!!!!:thumbsup2

YC. YC. YC!!!

DH and I got hooked on the YC/BC when we honeymooned in 1994. DH REFUSES to stay anywhere else. The ease of access to Epcot (where we spend quite a bit of time) can't be beat.... WL is beautiful-don't get me wrong, but I would be driven nuts having to rely on transportation to get to EVERY park.... at least with the YC (which is so elegant and refined) you have more options for getting to the parks IMO.

Enjoy your stay wherever it may be :goodvibes

Thanks to all who responded with your opinions. I thought things over, and decided that for our tastes and plans the Yacht Club is probably a better match. I just got off the phone and switched to YC for our trip in June. :cheer2:

Goody! I've been obsessing over the WL, now I get to start all over again and obsess over the YC.:rolleyes1 Anybody have any tips or "can't miss" things about the Yacht Club?

The location is worth the stay. If you're going at a warm time of year, you'll also love Stormalong Bay. I think it's the best pool on property. Enjoy.

I've stayed at both resorts (although it was BC, not YC -- but we often go to YCG to eat) and I would choose YC. I LOVE both resorts, but YC would win out. This is for several reasons -- (1) Location -- you can walk to TWO parks within minutes; (2) YC tends to have less kids there (not sure if this means anything to you or not; (3) SAB at night is really romantic, especially the hot tub under the stars; (4) You're close to the Swan and Dolphin which have some great restaurants. We especially like Kimonos at the Swan in the evening; (5) YC seems quieter than WL to us - perhaps because we think there are less kids running around over there; (6) YOu can easily get to MK from Epcot via monorail - it's a nice way to get there IMO.

Good luck making your decision!

OOPS! I see you've made your decision....you won't regret it!
