If it were between the YC and the Poly and the YC was your favorite and you were not really "into"the theme of the Poly would you stay there since it would be worth it due to the monorail?

We will be staying Mon-fri (probably)
going to EPCOT just for WS and to do Nemo and Crush
Going to the studios for maybe a day
Hopefully spending around two full days at MK
We would like to eat at Chef Mickey's one night
Other meals will be in the parks

Our little girl will be 2 1/2. I"m sure it will be good to go back to the room in the afternoon but sometimes we may not... I don't know

OK... So even if you loved the YC do you think overall you would be happier with the whole stay if you stayed at the Poly?

Don't get me wrong.. It's not that we don't like the Poly... just not as much our style as the YC.

So if you have any thoughts I would love to hear them. Especially from parents with young kids who have stayed different places and have pros and cons to share.

I also posted this on the resort forum but thought I may get more families with toddlers over here on the family forum.

I'm staying at the BWV and my son will almost be 2 when we go. I am very happy to be staying there. Though the monorail resorts are great for MK - MK is further away from the other parks.

IMO the BC, YC & BW are the most convenient resorts in Disney. You can take a boat or walk to EPCOT & DHS (the less buses the better!). You are nearby many good restaurants for dinner and have Cape May for character breakfast. Plus you have the Boardwalk for evening activities and if you like you are near Fantasia miniature golf.

I'm thinking we will go back in late afternoon for my son to nap. My plan with my ADRS is breakfast in the park we're going to (the first and last day I have breakfast at Cape May). Stay in the park until around 2-2:30. Go back to room to rest and 3 of my dinner ADRs are in EPCOT WS. So this way my son can have a good rest - pool etc and we don't have to "rush" to catch a bus to dinner - we can just stroll to EPCOT and spend some time in EPCOT before or after dinner. I haven't planned an full day for EPCOT as there's not much for my son and I will have 3 evenings to enjoy the WS, Nemo, and Illuminations and then when he gets tired it's just another stroll back to the resort.

If I were you I would stay with the YC - I like the fact that you can easily walk between the 3 hotels there and EPCOT (DHS is a bit longer walk). I've stayed at Contemporary, Poly and WL - and though I think WL is the mos beautiful Disney resort - for convenience, I like the EPCOT resorts.

We stayed at POP for our last trip with our dd (who turned 3 while we were there), and our ds (who was 7 months). I have to say it was sooooo nice when we visited the Poly or Grand Floridian for ADR's to just roll that stroller right onto the monorail. If the kids were sleeping, we could let them sleep. We didn't have to worry about waking them up so we could collapse the stroller and get on the bus (that was kind of a pain, expecially at the end of the day.) We decided that next time we go we will stay at a monorail resort because it was soo convenient. It was also nice to be at those resorts within a few minutes (instead of the half hour or so it took otherwise). We wasted a lot of time traveling back and forth because we were sooo far away from everything. I'm not sure how far the YC is from everything else, so maybe that's not an issue. Don't get me wrong, we had a great trip...we just realized that the extra cost of staying at a monorail resort was definatly worth it to us.

We've stayed at both...but we booked the Poly for our Oct. trip. Even though we loved the pool at the YC, I just think the monorail is wonderful for a little one in a stroller.

Another vote for the Poly (we've stayed at both). With a toddler, the monorail is just too convenient as is the proximity to MK.

We have stayed at both, at the time we had 3 kids, 15 months, 3 and 4. We did a split poly, beach club two weeks. (okay, so it was the beach, but they are the same thing). I WISH we would of stayed at the beach the whole time.
The boardwalk was so nice to have, at night if we just wanted to walk, the pool is amazing! Hours of fun in that sand bottom pool. It has a better theme in our opinion, we love the beach (yacht). We walked to epcot, walked to mgm, and would hop into epcot, to take the monorail to magic kingdom, and the take the bus back.
Poly was okay, but we just did not like the resort itself. The beach, yacht is so much nicer (in our opinion), and we love the area. Sure the monorail was nice, but I felt like we had more options in the beach/yacht clubs. Plus, we liked the rooms much better, we had no balcony at the poly, and at the beach there was enough room to stick a crib in the bathroom area, where in the poly there was not.
Both are nice, we are just huge fans of beach/yacht, we would never stay anywhere else now!

We've stayed at both and I can't stress how great it was to be at a monorail resort (but that is also because my son's favorite ride in all of WDW is the monorail). Also, between the 2, we liked Poly as a resort more than YC....we just didn't like the decor/atmosphere that much at YC. Also at Poly, you can take the boat to MK as well or walk over to TTC and catch the monorail to Epcot(or MK) or the big boat to MK. This was also great for getting back at night sometimes because some of the resorts/parks/DTD have buses to TTC and they seemed to have much shorter lines....I can't remember which places had it but it seems like we did this atleast twice.

But, at YC, it was nice to be able to walk to your resort from 2 different parks. The close proximity to Epcot was great and a casual 15 minute walk from DHS was much more relaxing than crowding onto a boat or bus.

So, for me, I would recommend Poly.....but, we are heading back there in Dec (with a 2 and 4 year old) and are staying at BC. Go figure.

To the OP, we've never been with children, but we had the same dilema choosing that you are having.

We've stayed at the BC as a couple 3 times and just LOVE it. I like the Poly and agree that the monorail is great, but I just can't give up the BC. That resort IS vacation to us and I know we'll regret it if we don't stay there.

Something someone on the boards said to me when I posted a similar question is that the monorail is great for MK and even Epcot, but you won't spend your entire vacation at those 2 parks. If you know you love the YC and can't tear yourself away, then stay there. Your DD will probably love it!!
