YC or BC - Is one better?

I am hearing from my previous post that the YC/BC may be a good choice for my trip with my neice. Question about which one to stay at.

Is one better than the other? I know they share amenities but would be interested in hearing from people who stayed there.

Thanks!

I don't know if there's any difference between the two other than theming. I've stayed at BCV (I'm a DVC member) and I love it, it's my home resort. The location is perfect in my opinion, a 5 minute walk from Epcot, and a 10-15 minute walk or ferry ride from MGM, and a 3 minute walk to all of the amenities of the Boardwalk. (Including Jellyrolls, my favorite nightlife spot at WDW!) BC is more of a summer turn of the century beach resort theme, and the YC is more of a 30's-esque yacht club, both are beautiful. I've toured YC but haven't seen the rooms, but I would assume rooms in both are pretty much identical other than the theming. I heartily recommend either of these resorts to anyone.

I think they are very similar....we think bc is more relaxed and "beachy"...the yc feels a little more formal. We absolutely love it there....if it makes any difference...The cape may cafe is right off the bc lobby and they have an awesome Character breakfast! Hope that helps a little!

I agree. There isn't much difference (I've stayed at the YC), but you get a little bit of a formal feel at the YC.

We've stayed at both and they are the same...we prefer the BC because of the decor. I also feel the BC is more "airy" and the YC is darker. Might just be the color schemes though!

I've stayed at both and have a strong preference for the BC. I prefer teh decor and atmosphere, and MUCH prefer the CM's.

I am going with my 10 year old niece so sounds like BC may better suit her?

I've stayed at both and prefer the YC. What's really ironic is that my reasons are the same as above. I prefer the CM's at YC, I prefer the decor at YC, it seems quieter but not unfriendly to children. It's more laid back and not as frantic. It just shows that tastes are different but both are great resorts. You'll love it there at either one. YC is closer to the boat launch that goes to MGM and to the marina.

We've never stayed at either one but this year we're doing three nights at YC after 12 nights at GF. The reason I'm picking YC over BC is solely based on the fact that we like a full balcony and since we're paying for a water view I'd like a balcony to sit on to watcht he view.

DisneyMomx&: You'll love that balcony! It's my favorite part of staying at the YC. I'm with you. I like being able to sit and just take the view all in.

Can I ask: Beach Club vs Boardwalk, which is preferable?

Do both offer Villas? We have 4 kids (2, 5, 7, and 8).

Thank you.

I have to agree with YCFAN,

YC is more laid back and not as frantic.

We've stayed at both and we liked the BC until they added the BC Villas, which I think added more activity to the lobby area.

BC has brighter colors, YC colors are more elegant.

You can't go wrong with either.

sjnlkm,

I can't comment on the BW, I just think the Main pool at the BW is a little ...aah...should I say weird.

10Drum, you've piqued my inerest, can you define "weird" insofar as the BWI pool?

We truly loved the YC. When we were there in Feb. I noticed that the BC seemed a little "worse for wear" in the lobby area. Actually saw a person let their little"curtain climber" literally climb the curtains and PULL THE ROD AND BRACKET AWAY FROM THE WALL :earseek: :earseek: . Way too noisy for us!

I can answer what makes BWI's pool so "weird" atleast for me....the freaky clown face slide!!! I've had a creepy feeling about clowns...perhaps it's John Gacy's self-portrait in a clown suit, or Stephen King's "It" clown demon, or the fact the every clown I've ever met has a huge smile painted on his face but when you look closely, his actual mouth is in a scowl and a hint of alcohol on his breath blows the image. So having to see that clown each time I watch my children go down the slide gives me the willies!!!

Just my opinion! :)

Our all time favorite resort is the Yacht Club. One of the bigger differences between the YC and the BC is that almost every room at the YC has a full balcony and this isn't the case over at the BC. We've stayed at both, but it's been the YC for us the past few years only and we stay there a lot. The rooms are the same. The YC has beautiful wood floors in the lobby and the colors are on the darker richer side. The BC has a more beachy feel to it with the colors running to more the pastel colors, pink and seafoam green. I find the lobby at the BC to be alittle more on the crazy side, probably because there is a character breakfast and a popular buffet dinner so it can get very crowded and loud compared to the YC.
Both resorts are wonderful and you really can't beat the location!

My DW and I stayed at YC last year and we loved it  . As for the differences between YC & BC ,seems to be just in the decor. Although it did seem that the YC was a bit more quieter with less kids. More of an adult type setting. We had a 4th floor room /full balcony view over looking the pool and could see the boardwalk unobstructed. The sunrises/sunsets were incredible.
We're returning to WDW next month but staying at the AKL ( my other favorite :goodvibes ), DW had asked if I would like to stay at the BWI but as she put it "its that clown face slide.. it looks like it is barfing up people" ,Now if I can only get that image out of my head! :rotfl2: :rotfl2:
so of the two I would choose YC! :cloud9:

I think it's because of the clown slide. Looks like a fun slide, just a little strange looking. It does sort of have that early days of the amusement park feel. The CR main pool doesn't do it for me either. I gues the YC/BC pool has spoiled me. I also like the CSR pool.
