I need someone to tell me everything there is to know about YC and/or BC concierge. I am a dedicated Poly lover, but my curiosity is piqued about YC or BC. We're going to WDW in the beginning of June with 2 DS's ages 6 and 2. I want to hear it all, the good, bad and ugly about these two resorts.

Hmmmm, where to begin....well, the concierge service at both resorts is virtually the same, so there no real choosing between the quality of concierge service or offerings, etc. etc. The sizes of the lounges are pretty close, the Yacht Clubs being a bit bigger (I was surprised how tiny the Beach club's was!). The only real difference is the theming which is just a continuation of what you see in the lobbies... the Yacht club has a rather elegant nautical theme and the Beach club has a rather elegant nantucket theme which still manages to feel down to earth. Both share stormalong bay, the themed pool, and both have their own quiet pools. The downside to SAB for ME is that the pool and jacuzzi close at 8pm, and I usually like to go to the jacuzzi later than that. We go to the quiet pool's jacuzzis which are great because there usually aren't alot of others in them, but not as pretty as SAB themed jacuzzi's in the daytime (but alas, they are closed at night :sad2: ).
I found the CMs in both concierge lounges to be very nice and helpful. They always greet you when you come into the lounge. At the Beach club they greet you right when you exit the elevator! We got towel animals (a rarity that is fun!), great mousekeeping, great rooms (but not as pretty to me as BWI or GF, let's say...very nice, though) and a great view if you can get one of the Boardwalk. Our views were of other balconies (though I could see a part of the water if I craned out over one corner of the balcony),...so I'm not sure if other concierge rooms feature full-on water views...someone else might know.
They are divine hotels. I hope this helped! :wizard:

We have done both, and prefer the Yacht Club, it has a bigger lounge and it seems more of a selection.

I was sort of disappointed with the YC lounge. Our only comparison with other Disney concierge was the GF main building and lodge though. The YC lounge is in an enclosed room, which I thought was very small. It had a sofa, 2 large tables and I think 7 small tables that were really only big enough for 2 or 3 three people. There was a nice balcony, but it overlooked the parking lot. The lounge was only open during certain times of the day. You weren't able to go in and sit down to read the paper or relax with your park guides and a cold drink. Specifically, they opened the doors at 7am. At 6:30am they did set up a carafe of coffee on the table outside the lounge. From 7am-10am you could get croissants, bagels, donuts, cold cereal, packets of oatmeal, apples and bananas. The lounge closed from 10-11am. Then from 11am-4pm, they put out snacks. These consisted of pretzels, gummy worms, nuts, goldfish crackers, cookies and snack pack puddings. The lounge closed from 4-5pm. When they reopened, they had wine/beer, a soup and hot dish, vegetables & dip, pb&j uncrustable sandwiches, cheese & crackers. The lounge closed from 7-8pm. Upon reopening, there were cordials (Baileys, Kahulua) and a plate of petite pastries. The lounge closed promptly at 10pm and then reopened at 7am the next morning.

We stayed at the YC Concierge this past July and had a wonderful view of the Boardwalk across the water. As an earlier poster said though, the GF concierge lounge had more food more often.I found myself waiting around so as not to be the first person in at 7:00AM when the lounge opened.
While the snacks and dishes may not have been as elegant as at the GF, they were nonetheless very good, and all of the Cms we encountered were very friendly and helpful

the beach club has always been my favorite hote. i dont really like the yacht club because it has too much wood. :earsboy:

My favorite is the YC partly because of the view across Crescent Lake in the lagoon view concierge rooms and the full balcony. I love sitting on the balcony and watching people, boats, Illuminations!! 5183 has a very nice view across to the Boardwalk but this last time we had 5175 and it had equally a nice view of the Boardwalk and also we could see Illuminations! These rooms also had day beds. I like the decor and I LOVE being greeted so cheerfully when we get off of the elevators. The CM's have always been helpful and I like the "clean" feeling of the YC. We also have experienced alot of the "extra" touches there and have not had those at other resorts. (Gifts being left in the room by CM's, etc.) The desserts were always very good with not only small desserts but also usually a particular cake or cheesecake every night. Their hot dishes are also very good. One evening they had mussels and clams and that was quite a treat! I mentioned one evening on the way out that we were dining that night at Les Chefs de France and immediately the CM turned to her computer and said "Let me make sure you get a window table there!" When we arrived at the restaurant we were immediately escorted to a window table without waiting or asking! We usually go in July and I like the summer feeling of the lake and the boats around. I love the walk to Epcot and the quick exit back to the hotel after Illuminations. The ferry ride to MGM Studios is very nice too. I think either you love SAB or don't. I've read many negative remarks about it for toddlers yet my little one has always loved the sand bar where he can dig and then run over to the "playground" with slide. I also have a teenager so the pool meets all our needs. Beaches and Cream is fun too. I just don't have any bad things to say about this place and believe me my son says I'm the pickiest person in the world when it comes to hotels. The housekeeping staff was equally good and Maria even remembered us from one year to the next when she saw us checking in and coming down the hall!! Another good point....check in. I have NEVER had a bad check in at YC. They send you an elevator key for 5th floor and you go straight up. Everything's always been waiting for me, ready.....even at 9:00am!! I've read where others weren't quite as happy as we have always been here and maybe we've been lucky but this is one place I'll keep going back to.

That's strange. We were there 3 out of 4 nights for dessert and they didn't once have anything other than the petite pastries.

Totally agree. I thought the housekeeping staff was wonderful and friendly.

Only one experience with check in here and it wasn't the best. I was surprising my family by having our oldest daughter fly in from college right after her exams were done. This would bump us from 4 to 5 people in the room. I had asked for maximum bedding, but when we arrived, we only had 2 beds in the room. The CM at the desk could not move us because the room assignor was not in that day. I thought it was quite strange that hotel room assignments would come to a complete stop just because this person had a day off. She wouldn't check with anyone else. I was the one who got on the phone, called Alana in pre-planning and within minutes we had a new room assignment. We had to return later in the day for our room keys and they were in the middle of a shift change. Another guest was sitting at the desk next to me and they were happily locating a king bed room for her :confused3 . Guess first impressions are hard to shake off.

I've only seen the petite pastries as well.

The Yacht Club's concierge room is bigger than the BC and has a better view than the BCs (which really has no view). I thought the food offerings were nearly identical...same exact schedule, same offerings, even the hot offerings were from the same restaurants (usually either Yachtman Steakhouse or Cape May). The only reason I would probably go for YC CL is for a slightly bigger lounge, but really, BWI has it all over YC or BC for CL because the lounge is twice the size and has a view of the fireworks. Again, the offerings are virtually there same there as well. At AKL they are more exotic because they are from the African restaurants and the coffee machine and smoothies on tap is a bit of an upgrade. And from what I hear, GFs service has more offerings than YC or BC.

I can only go by what I've experienced. I've been several times and each time for dessert they had on one night a really good carrot cake, another night a pumpkin cheesecake, then another was a chocolate cheesecake. Like I said I always go in July and I don't know if the time of year makes a difference or not. I hate to hear about your room assignment problem because that's the one thing I really love about this place. Even last year when CRO said you could no longer reserve 5 people to a room on the lagoon side (you could for garden view :confused3 ) my itinerary planner told me not to worry about it, just list 4 people, ask for the day bed and when we arrive we would have the day bed and just add the fifth(child) at the desk. It went like a breeze! In fact, it was if they already knew what to do and I barely had to say a word. Maybe it depends on which planner you work with but I've always had wonderful experiences with mine which is probably why I love this place so much. Service goes a long way with me!

I'm jealous! ;) We only got the little petite pastries and cookies...maybe we'll try July next time (we are looking for July/ Aug codes right now...was going to hopefully try RPC this time, though).

I didn't know the YC lounge closes. The one thing I like about the Poly concierge was that you can go the lounge anytime of day to read, relax etc.
Which is good for me because I get up around 6:00 a.m. and like to go the lounge so I don't wake the rest of the family.
Is there any place on the YC concierge where you can go early in the morning or late at night?

Muffycat, I'm the same exact way and that's why I found the lounge to be a bit of a disappointment. I ended up going downstairs to the lobby and purchasing coffee at the Ale & Compass Lounge. I wandered around the grounds a little bit and then I ended up sitting on a chair outside the doors of the concierge lounge from 6:30am until they opened at 7am.
