Just got back from a 10 night stay at YC CL. We have stayed at the YC many times but this was our first club level stay. I had read multiple reviews on CL so I went having an idea of what to expect. I did have IPO make some of my dining reservations and I made a request of a daybed. We are a family of 5 but was told the daybed was only a request. Rollover is not an option for us because we also take air mattresses. I have 3 teenage boys and everyone likes their own sleeping space. I also requested a fridge.

We arrived about 12:00 in the afternoon and were greeted and taken up to the 5th floor. We were checked in and our room was not ready. No biggie, went to get lunch at ESPN. Heads up if you go before 4pm. They only have the seating in the bar area open, so it can sometimes be a long wait. We were notified via text at about 3:30 that the room was ready. I booked a standard room and that is exactly what we got. Room 5190, right down the hall from the lounge, far enough not to hear any noise. Here is one of my complaints about CL. I think the rooms should be nicer than the standard rooms and they should have a better view than the parking lot. The condition of the room was pretty shabby, worn carpets in the room and hallways. Scuffs all around the bottoms of both beds. The furniture was very disheveled when we walked in. Housekeeping was very spotty, beds were made everyday and towels changed. I did not notice anything else.

CL staff - I thought most of the staff was very nice, there were a few that were pretty rude, and a few that were exceptional. Towards the last 3 days of the trip was the testing of the magic bands, we pretty much became invisible to all who worked there since we did not have the bands. I was less than happy about that.

Food offerings - breakfast was the standard continental breakfast type stuff. Bagels, croissants, mini muffins(these changed daily), danishes(these also changed daily). They also had fruit, oatmeal and cereals. I found breakfast to be fine.
Afternoon snacks are a joke. Swedish fish, cookies, trail mix and chips. Everything but the chips were a joke, I truly became addicted to those. FYI, these same things were all put back out after 10 every night except 1. And I have no idea why they didn't do it the one night.
Evening offerings were fine, cheese, crackers, veggies, apples, pb&j and rolls were the standard. They rotated 2 hot foods each night. Both were fried.
Desserts-very disappointed with these. They had 3 really small desserts that rotated each night.

A few things that really annoyed me in the lounge. People letting their kids unaccompanied in the food area and sticking their hands in the food and people wearing their pajamas in the lounge. For the most part we had no problem getting a table at anytime for the five of us. We took food back to our rooms too.

I also was unsure of what to do with out dishes. There was no place to put dirty dishes and everyone left them on the tables. These were quickly cleaned up by the staff. I also was unsure of do you take a new dish every time you get something? Like if I just get a bagel and then decide on a muffin, do I need a new plate?

We spent a lot of time at the resort and SAB. Had a few major issues with that. We never had issues with getting chairs even mid day. The issues were, multiple people drinking beverages in the pool, even after being told by staff, they continued to do it. I watched a group of people drink their drinks in the pool while the manager stood there and told them they could not drink in the pool. I guess some people are above others and the rules. Very inconsistent with checking IDs at the entrances. I watched multiple people be told well next time just make sure you have your ID. Lastly, the bees at the drink station!! OMG! We wasted $82 on mugs to use at the pool and could not get near the drink area. There were bees up inside where the soda comes out.

Ate at hurricane hannas and beaches and cream. Both very good. Had flatbread pizzas from the marketplace, also very good. Biggest issue there, they only had 2 workers working the counter and it was very busy. Very long lines. We also ate at captains grille for dinner. My one son could not find anything to eat on he menu, I asked if they had Mac n cheese. The waiter said he would check with the chef. They made bowel of it for him. Very nice.

Rooms and hotel not as cool as years past. Lobby very busy with suits for the magic band testing.

So, I was slightly disappointed with this stay, overall the hotel needs a lift. Carpets and furniture worn. I think they need to revamp the CL. It needs some more food offerings and rooms should be nicer than a standard room. I would go back to the YC strictly for the pool. My boys can spend hours here. I'm glad I tried club level but would not waste the money to do it again.

We also encountered some very rude CM in the parks. I think next year we will try Universal. With the price of the rooms and tickets increasing at Disney, and the decline in service. I think it's time for a break.

From your report it really sounds like you had some unpleasant experiences. At CL you are paying for the lounge and the service, not the view if you book SV. Just my opinion

I am at BC and also notice worn hallway carpeting and hallway scuffs. Our room is great though. Furniture, carpet, and fixtures are good

CMs I have spoken with have been good to great, too bad you met rude ones. Uncalled for

I was asked to not hold a drink (Sunken Treasure) while near the pool, so I complied. Understandable

Have not visited outdoor drink station so have not seen the bees

CMs at parks have been very good to my family so far

Thanks for your review. I'm sorry your trip was disappointing. YC CL has been on my list of resorts/CLs to try, but I have read a lot of negative reviews like yours about the lounge and food offerings. As far as the rooms needing to be redone, I think the YC is scheduled for a refurb next year. I can't remember just when, but I think the BC will be done first and then YC will follow.

never stayed at yc. however what you are saying rings true as to our experience at bc cl. we only stayed one night so i thought maybe we got an off day.

i see your point with the view. it sounds like you realize what the view potential is but you think in general standard cl views should be better then parking lot. i don't disagree. we had a water view, would have booked standard but it was not available...neither was garden view.

cl offerings sound like bc...not what we are used to at the Polynesian cl. again we were only there one night but the lounge was closed a good bit of the stay. the BC lounge was crowded too. never have i had to wait in such lines for cl offerings. we have stayed at a good number of resorts cl at Disney and several tines at that. we will not likely stay cl at bc again....or for that matter...we are unlikely to choose yc.

We too had a 10 night stay YC CL back in April and I agree with your assessment of the lounge, the food, and the staff. It was all a bit.....lacking....

We did not find our room to be in poor shape (and I go crazy about that sort of thing)....our room was actually pristine, but the hallway floors were stained with bleach spots??

We really liked YC alot, and we would absolutely stay there again...just not CL. :goodvibes

I booked a standard room CL room and that is what I got. So I wasn't expecting to see the beautiful boardwalk view. Unfortunately, when I booked at almost a year ago, for a party of five we only had the SV option. I checked closer to check in and there was no other option. I just think that for the price you pay, all CL rooms should have a nice view. We had a wonderful vacation and had some great family time with our 3 boys. But we have been staying at the YC for the last 6 years and have noticed a decline. I thought the lounge was very nice, a little small but nice. I did find it strange that the only thing on the tv in the lounge was the Disney info channel. Would have been nice to watch the news. And the shocker of it all.... I loved the Nescafé lattes from the lounge, I know I'm a freak!!

No I love them as well! From the Poly.. Lol

I understand what you are saying about CL. We were just at BW CL last week and the lounge was lacking also. Some appetizers were seen 3-4 times in a week. Got boring quick. The CM's were all very nice. Enjoyed seeing them everyday.

We have stayed at YC about 7 years ago and we are probably going to stay there next summer on a regular floor. Just hope the renovations are done before our stay. Don't want to be in a resort that has work going on.

Oh and I like the Nescafe machines too. The BW's was broken when we were there.

This is the second negative review that I've read on the CL at YC. I find it disappointing since my family and I are considering YC as a possible choice for a future trip.

To be honest I've heard disappointing CL reviews from several resorts like Poly, BC & more so its not just YC..

We stay at YC CL almost every trip for about 10 years now. I totally agree about the food offerings. They are almost a joke. I was shocked at the tiny size of the desserts when we were there in May. They seemed to have shrunk to about 1/3rd the size they were a year before. And they have had the same 6-8 appetizers for about 5 years now. But again, the portions are getting smaller. They used to at least have the crudité/ dip with the afternoon service. If the chips ever go-- I'm done with CL for sure!! ;) :rotfl2:

And yes, the hallways are way past time for new carpets. I'm happy to hear about the planned referb, but since BC is getting done first, things are gonna be pretty bad by the time YC gets done.

I am just curious tho. I wonder what you think the view from a standard club room should be. It's not like Disney can make the standard club view any different than the view from a room 1 floor down. :confused3 Some resorts like Poly have better views from all club rooms. But at others, like YC, the view is the pretty much the same from all standard rooms.

We are staying CL at the BC next week and I have heard good and bad, but we are going to go for it. I really want the BC for the F&W and CL was all I could get with the military rate, but for $279 a night for a cl room at the BC I feel like I am getting an answer deal even if the food offerings suck.

We leave for YC CL tomorrow! :yay: I'm looking forward to it! I know the food offerings are not what they used to be, but we're also on the dining plan, so it'll work out just fine for us! I love a lot of other things about club such as the IPO planning, the convenience of the continental breakfast and access to beverages all day long! That's a big plus for my family. :goodvibes I'm friendly with the cm's but I don't interact too heavily with them, unless I have things that need to be taken care of. I'm looking forward to spending time with my family and relaxing by that pool!:thumbsup2

I love the YC, it's a beautiful resort, great location and the pool can't be beat. I just won't stay CL again.

Does anyone know when the renovations for the BC and YC will start and finish?

If you think the offerings are poor, why do you keep staying CL?

Just curious. I agree about the food offerings.

I agree 100%. It's simply poor planning on Disney's part.

These are general thoughts and not a crtiique of OPs expereince or dissapointment:

I have stayed both CL and non-CL at different Disney resorts. I think there is a common misconception that the CL food offerings are designed to be meals. A snack in the lounge is not the same as QS meal, and disney doesn't promote it as such. Perhaps families are trying to get their 'money's worth' but if you choose to stay CL you will be disappointed if you think your are getting a dining plan. Not only will those that try to make a meal out of these snacks be disappointed, but you will ruin the experience for others as you scarf down unreasonable portions.
I don't know how disney can change a view- if a window faces a parking lot, the view will be of a parking lot whether you are on floor 4 or 5. CL is an amenities based upgrade, not a location. I'd love to see nicer rooms at CL and I think that's why the upcoming BC Refurb will begin with the CL Lounge and 5th floor rooms. Like any other issue regarding views, guests should always pay for the view they want.

Your review is very similar to mine. We were at the YC CL in May for 8 days. Disney really needs someone to come in and overhaul most of these club levels. Bring them back up to the high standards guests expect.:thumbsup2 We have really limited our time in and around the lounges because of the abuse of the food and its poor quality combined with people in wet bathing suits and pajamas acting like they're in their kitchen at home... it just takes away the magic in my vacation.

We were not looking for meals, but I'm not too sure who is eating sweedish fish as their afternoon snacks. How about some veggies? As to the view, I'm not saying Disney can change a view. I'm saying for the price you pay it could have been designed a little better to give CL rooms all nice views.

And by the way, we were told numerous times by CL staff upon entering the lounge, to "enjoy you meal".

I agree about the food quantity 100% but I disagree when it comes to quality. I think the food quality needs to be better than a package of frozen spring rolls heated up. I miss the culinary creations you use to see in the lounges... items that had a personal touch, they were often small portions of food you could find in and around the resort itself. Lobster salad from the Captain's Grille at the YC CL lounge... Salmon from Artist Point at the WL CL lounge, etc, etc. I'd rather have one tiny well crafted food sample than a whole tray of frozen Sam's Club apps. But that's just me. ;)

As for the view, if you pay for standard then you will get standard, no matter if you're on the CL or not. You get what you pay for, so you really can't expect anything more than that.
