Just got back from a 10 night stay at YC CL. We have stayed at the YC many times but this was our first club level stay. I had read multiple reviews on CL so I went having an idea of what to expect. I did have IPO make some of my dining reservations and I made a request of a daybed. We are a family of 5 but was told the daybed was only a request. Rollover is not an option for us because we also take air mattresses. I have 3 teenage boys and everyone likes their own sleeping space. I also requested a fridge.
We arrived about 12:00 in the afternoon and were greeted and taken up to the 5th floor. We were checked in and our room was not ready. No biggie, went to get lunch at ESPN. Heads up if you go before 4pm. They only have the seating in the bar area open, so it can sometimes be a long wait. We were notified via text at about 3:30 that the room was ready. I booked a standard room and that is exactly what we got. Room 5190, right down the hall from the lounge, far enough not to hear any noise. Here is one of my complaints about CL. I think the rooms should be nicer than the standard rooms and they should have a better view than the parking lot. The condition of the room was pretty shabby, worn carpets in the room and hallways. Scuffs all around the bottoms of both beds. The furniture was very disheveled when we walked in. Housekeeping was very spotty, beds were made everyday and towels changed. I did not notice anything else.
CL staff - I thought most of the staff was very nice, there were a few that were pretty rude, and a few that were exceptional. Towards the last 3 days of the trip was the testing of the magic bands, we pretty much became invisible to all who worked there since we did not have the bands. I was less than happy about that.
Food offerings - breakfast was the standard continental breakfast type stuff. Bagels, croissants, mini muffins(these changed daily), danishes(these also changed daily). They also had fruit, oatmeal and cereals. I found breakfast to be fine.
Afternoon snacks are a joke. Swedish fish, cookies, trail mix and chips. Everything but the chips were a joke, I truly became addicted to those. FYI, these same things were all put back out after 10 every night except 1. And I have no idea why they didn't do it the one night.
Evening offerings were fine, cheese, crackers, veggies, apples, pb&j and rolls were the standard. They rotated 2 hot foods each night. Both were fried.
Desserts-very disappointed with these. They had 3 really small desserts that rotated each night.
A few things that really annoyed me in the lounge. People letting their kids unaccompanied in the food area and sticking their hands in the food and people wearing their pajamas in the lounge. For the most part we had no problem getting a table at anytime for the five of us. We took food back to our rooms too.
I also was unsure of what to do with out dishes. There was no place to put dirty dishes and everyone left them on the tables. These were quickly cleaned up by the staff. I also was unsure of do you take a new dish every time you get something? Like if I just get a bagel and then decide on a muffin, do I need a new plate?
We spent a lot of time at the resort and SAB. Had a few major issues with that. We never had issues with getting chairs even mid day. The issues were, multiple people drinking beverages in the pool, even after being told by staff, they continued to do it. I watched a group of people drink their drinks in the pool while the manager stood there and told them they could not drink in the pool. I guess some people are above others and the rules. Very inconsistent with checking IDs at the entrances. I watched multiple people be told well next time just make sure you have your ID. Lastly, the bees at the drink station!! OMG! We wasted $82 on mugs to use at the pool and could not get near the drink area. There were bees up inside where the soda comes out.
Ate at hurricane hannas and beaches and cream. Both very good. Had flatbread pizzas from the marketplace, also very good. Biggest issue there, they only had 2 workers working the counter and it was very busy. Very long lines. We also ate at captains grille for dinner. My one son could not find anything to eat on he menu, I asked if they had Mac n cheese. The waiter said he would check with the chef. They made bowel of it for him. Very nice.
Rooms and hotel not as cool as years past. Lobby very busy with suits for the magic band testing.
So, I was slightly disappointed with this stay, overall the hotel needs a lift. Carpets and furniture worn. I think they need to revamp the CL. It needs some more food offerings and rooms should be nicer than a standard room. I would go back to the YC strictly for the pool. My boys can spend hours here. I'm glad I tried club level but would not waste the money to do it again.
We also encountered some very rude CM in the parks. I think next year we will try Universal. With the price of the rooms and tickets increasing at Disney, and the decline in service. I think it's time for a break.
