YC/BC questions

We're planning a vacation sometime during summer 2004 (I like to plan early!). We had hoped to stay at POFQ and were so disappointed to hear about them closing for awhile. Maybe they'll be done by next summer, but we don't want to get our hopes up so I want to start looking at other resorts. So, here are my yc/bc questions:

1) the pool looks great but how old do kids have to be to use the big slide? My dd will be 6, too big for the little slide, but will she be able to do the big one?

2) How long is the walk to Epcot? We used the Sandcastle club on our last trip & dh & I seem to have different memories on that walk! Is it quicker to take the boat?

3) Which bus stop is picked up first? YC or BC

4) Do all rooms have balconies or do you have to request one?

Thanks so much for any help, I really appreciate it!:D

I love POFQ too and had reservations to stay there last week. Due to the closing I was able to upgrade to the BC so I'll try to answer your questions.

The pool is great. My son just turned 7 and was able to use the big slide. I don't think they have an age limit but since the slide lets off in 4 feet of water and parents are not allowed to wait at the bottom your DD has to be able to swim.

Our room was close to the lobby area but on the 2nd floor. The walk to Epcot from our room was about 6 or 7 minutes. The walk could be longer (maybe 10-12 minutes) if you are on the opposite
side of the hotel. I think it is quicker to walk than take the boat no matter where you are.

YC was picked up first for all of the "bus" parks. If I remember correctly the route was YC-BC-BW going but Swan, Dolphin, YC,BC,BW coming back. It took about 20 minutes going to MK or AK and about 30-35 coming back. We almost always had to stand going to MK but not to AK.

All rooms have some sort of balcony but about half only have a standing room balcony (about enough room for 2 adults to stand).

Hope your planning goes well. If you have any other questions I would be glad to try to answer.

As long as she can swim, yes. She can not wear a swim vest of floaties, and you can not wait at the bottom for her. It is deep water (6'+) there, and if she can't swim then she can't use it. If there is a question, the lifeguards will give her a quick swim test and approve or disapprove.

Walking is quicker. Watching grass grow is quicker than the boat for tha matter :) From the main lobby of the BC, at a stroll it's about ten minutes. If you go out one of the end doors at the BC and hustle, less than five.

YC I think.

At the YC almost all have full balconies. At the BC some have only "Standing balconies". At both there are a very few rooms that have no balcony.

As others have just answered, your dd will have to be able to swim well without floaties or anything. That being said, if she isn't able to use the big slide yet, she should still be young enough to use the smaller one;)

If you are going to stay at YC, they mostly all have a balcony. If staying at BC, most have only the standing room only balcony so either way, I'd make the request if having a balcony is important to you.

You're Welcome! Let us know what you decide and have a great time!

You must be able to land without help. If your DD can swim to the edge of the pool she should be fine.

Walking is faster.

The YC

4) Do all rooms have balconies or do you have to request one?

Balconies at all rooms at the YC.

Cindala,
We'll be at YC Concierge the same time as you. Two adults, two 15 year old boys and a 2 year old boy. We can't wait. Hope both our trips are everything we want them to be!!!:bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :jester:

NCBUZZ,
We have a Waterview booked this year, although I wouldn't mind being bumped up to concierge!
We are a party of 5; DH and me, DD16, DD18, and DD's friend. Wear your green ribbons, and we'll keep an eye out for you!
