DH and I decided last night that we want to go to DLR resort next summer! Not sure of when but most likely at the end of June. I am thinking 3 days in the park for now but I know that won't be long enough....no amount of time is ever long enough!

Just so excited I had to share!!! Cannot wait to see Carsland!!

My hubby and I will be there the end of June too! I can't wait but it seems so far away. I guess that gives me plenty of time to obsess. Have you decided where you are staying yet?

We stayed at BWPPI last time and the location could not be beat! It was really, really close! But....I have two kids that love to swim and the pool there is pretty small. We loved the rooms and the pool/pirate area at HoJo's so will have to decide if that pool justifies a little bit longer walk.

If I had to pick right now, I would do BWPPI and then spend one night at the DLH so the kids could do the pool there. They have already requested we stay at the DLH but I don't think we will do that for the entire stay. Although it may be worth it if there are EMH etc. I need to look more into that as I am not familiar with how all of that works!

How about you? Do you know where you are staying yet?

I've stayed at HoJO and Stovall's. Both were fine, we didn't spend a whole lot of time in the rooms. Right now I have Best Western Anaheim Inn booked but I might change. Our other option was BW Park Place Inn because it was closer but the Anaheim Inn isn't that much further and the price is better. I'll keep watching the prices though and see what happens. We would love to do either the Disneyland Hotel or Grand Californian but it is so expensive. If they continue the early entry though for resort guests and I save enough money we might splurge.

Sometimes I think I should book one of the Disney hotels and not tell my husband. Instead tell him that we are staying at the Motel 6 or something and then as we drive to the hotel I give him directions to the Disney one and surprise him!

How many days are you planning? We will be there 5. We are driving from Wisconsin and making stops along the way.

Like you, we really don't spend anytime at the hotel. If the kids do swim, it would be a nonpark day because we are always at the park from opening until we are dead tired!;). That is another reason why it is so hard to justify the $$$$ for a Disney property hotel since we really only sleep there and would hardly use any of the facilities. The EMH *might* make it worth it but totally depends on price!

We won't do less than 3 days and 4 would be ideal! However, I want to really plan in some relaxation time so I am considering doing one day on at DLR and one day off sleeping in/beach time or that one day at the DLH pool.

How long of a drive is from Wisconsin? We are in Seattle and it would be 18 or 19 hours for us, I think??

We went this past summer for the first time at the end of June and fell in love with DL. So now we are planning another trip for next summer same time frame June 27 thru July 5th. We plan on spending 5 days in the parks and 2 days doing the museums in Hollywood and one day at the beach. We booked our package thru AAA at BWPPI. We are driving from NC because we want to bring my Mom with us and she refuses to fly. So we will also throw in the Grand Canyon on our drive out. I am so excited I can't wait to get back:cool1::cool1:

DLH is amazing with the pool and the special touches they have throughout the property. Definitely worth checking.

I definitely plan to check it out! We stayed there a long time ago but that new pool is very tempting!!

Wow!! How cool that you are coming to DLR when WDW I so much closer to you!! :yay:

We love WDW, but there was just something about DL. The vibe was just a little different in DL and I loved the weather. I just know my mom will love it there and she really wants to see the LaBrea Tar Pits. We stayed at the Anaheim Islander inn and suites this last visit so this time I want to stay a little closer so that is why I chose the BWPPI. :yay:

I think if we drove straight through from Wisconsin it would be about 24-26 hours maybe more. We plan to stop in Yellowstone and Yosemite on the way out and stop at the Grand Canyon on the way back. We are trying to squeeze San Francisco in for a 1-2 days too. I am excited to see some of the scenes from Soarin' in person. When I was in LA/Anaheim this past March we did a day tour of LA/Hollywood and we stopped at Venice Beach and Santa Monica. Both were cool and I would like to spend more time at them. Maybe we will be able to fit it in. Have you thought about going to them with the kids?

Your drive sounds awesome! I haven't been to either Yellowstone or Yosemite but I did get the opportunity to go to the Grand Canyon several years ago. It is really the most unbelievably beautiful place ever!!! Not sure of your route, but maybe you could squeeze in some time to go thru Sedona too!!

We think about doing a beach day every time we plan a DLR trip but always skip it in lieu of another day at the park! Lol!! But not this time.......;). We love the beach in Carlsbad (about 90 minutes south of Anaheim) so we are going to stay there for a couple of days and just get in some good relaxation time. The kids, no doubt, would love to see the folks at Venice beach! Very entertaining! In May, DH really wanted to go see the Hollywood sign but we ran out of time. No doubt we will do that this time!

We will also be going to Farrell's. There are several in the Orange County area but in May we went to the one at The Shops in Mission Viejo and it was so much fun!!

Last night I looked at the price for one night at the DLH at the end of June --$421!! I don't think we are willing to spend that just for a day at the hotel pool!

Wow $421 for one night! Guess I'll probably be sticking with the BW! I have never been to Yellowstone or Yosemite either. We are going to spend a week driving out to DL and checking out the sights, but that I'm sure will be just a little taste of what those places have to offer. So after 4-5 days at DL and that quick stop at the Grand Canyon, we will have to high tail it back home.

What is Farrell's? I've never heard of it? I know that hubby really wants to stop at an In and Out Burger, ever been to one of those? He also wanted to see the Hollywood stuff, and I wouldn't mind that as long as we stop at the Farmer's Market that is next to The Grove. Went to the Farmer's Market on the March/April trip and it was great. Hubby had to stay home for that trip I went with my sister and niece so he hasn't seen any of the Hollywood or beach stuff. There is so much to see and so little time!

We went to In N Out burger in May (my first time - DH had been before). I will admit I don't eat hamburgers so I had a cheeseburger without the burger and it was Awesome!! Yummy and very fresh lettuce, tomato etc. The fries were great too. The one we went to was off of Ball road between the town of Long Beach and Disneyland. We pulled in around 8:30pm on a weeknight so definitely past the dinner rush and there were probably 12 cars in line for the drive thru!! Inside was pretty packed too although there were enough tables for those that we eating at the restaurant instead of "taking out". Once we ordered we probably had to wait about 10 minutes for our food. There is also In N Out burger in Az so keep a look out for them there too! We will definitely be going back again next summer!

Farrell's is an old time ice cream parlor! There used to be one outside of Seattle when I was growing up. The servers dress like barbershop quartet singers and they have really, really good ice cream treats. When we went in May we didn't order dinner but just ice cream so I can't comment on the food. We went on a Saturday around 7:30pm and the place was packed and they had a line to get in. I think we waited about 20 minutes to be seated.

Farrells looks cool, we'll have to stop in if we are in the area of one. If the waitstaff dress like barbershop people, that will remind us of the Dapper Dans at DL. Good to know that In and Out might be worth it. I think there are a few on our drive.
