We were meant to get loads of snow last night and we got none. All the snow that we did have is now melting The kids thought they were going to get a day off school and go sledging

It's full on blizzarding here!! I've rung Robert and told him and he doesn't want to come home yet!!!! Insane person!

We've got a bad snow storm, DS's school only managed to get two staff turning up today so their school has closed too. He's sad at missing a couple of his favourite subjects but happy to be home warm and dry. Poor DH made it to work but not all of the staff have arrived on time and the yard is so bad that vehicles can't get in or out The wagons and vans last night were really struggling to make it into the yard the tyres were really squealing but the drivers were unable to move very far. It's possible not everything left on time as the weather conditions were awful by 8pm Don't expect your mail at a "normal" time today. Our street last night was a sheer sheet of ice compacted by traffic not pleasant to walk on there's bound to be another accident this year because the council refuse to grit the roads and paths in our area Over the last five years there have been lots of complaints but not much gets done about them. Hope it's not too bad tonight, keep safe everyone

I think it must just be the north east with the snow, I'm at uni in Newcastle, and I havent seen snow like this for ages!!! I swear it gets more exciting when you're a student!!

A warning for anyone driving through Northumberland- BE VERY CAREFUL! There is loads of ice under the snow..... I nearly got myself killed going to get Robert early..... My car nearly skidded off the road and into another car, then nearly skidded into a house.... I was only driving at 10mph at most so it was purely the ice that sent the car skidding. The round trip normally takes me 40minutes, but today it took well over 90....

I'm not going to lie, I came home and cried because I was so terrified.....

Needless to say, I didn't head into town for that reason! Is Newcastle that bad?

I'm not sure about the town centre because I haven't braved that yet, but the outside the centre and around the uni it's horrible, it's the slush more than anything, it's so dangerous!!
