I'm writing from the happiest place on earth. We arrived Friday. Our first part of the trip we booked at por in the royal rooms through orbits. We had an awesome room in oak manor overlooking a pretty fountain and the river. Our second hotel is the boardwalk which we are in now. We paid for a standard room but were upgraded to a garden view. The man at check in said i understand you paid for a standard view of the parking lot but disney wants you to have a nicer view so you will be facing the courtyard instead..yay We are on the fifth floor facing epcot with a perfect view of the epcot ball and the Eiffel tower. Our balcony faces epcot so we can watch the fireworks from our balcony. Yay for pixie dust:banana::banana:qo

Yay that is so awesome!! :thumbsup2 I've never been lucky enough to get a Disney upgrade, (I think my lifetime's supply of pixie dust was spent on a huge random Vegas upgrade once) but I love hearing of others' good luck!! :) Enjoy your vacation!

Can you ship some of your surplus PD over to POFQ?? We'll be checking in shortly and I wouldn't mind some of that. (No, I'm not expecting it...:cool2:_

Congrats on the room with a view!!!

what building and room number are you in? you dont have to post your actual room # but one that woujld have approx the same view.....thanks

Yay! Sounds fantastic! Can you share some of that PD please? LOL Can you add a pic of your view? Id love to see it!!

What a nice surprise! Congrats on the upgrade and enjoy your trip.:dance3:

Wow...I thought there were basically only two views at BWI...standard and water. The standard, I thought, encompassed parking lot, garden and courtyard. Guess that has changed. Lucky you!!!!!

Standard does include the garden or a parking lot. On the 5th floor, if you're assigned an even number, you get a view of the garden (and Epcot). If you get an odd number, you look out over the parking lot. We were in Room 5302 last month and I would love to have the exact same room when my DD and I go to celebrate her high school graduation. The OP did get some pixie dust, but it wasn't to a different view level. Just a much nicer view.

Sweeeeeet!!! :cool1: Post a pic if possible!

.

Good for you! :goodvibes

Happened to us once when we booked a standard room at YC with a military discount. We were upgraded to a lake view room and could also see the upper Illuminations fireworks from our balcony. I would never ask for, or expect an upgrade, but it's nice when it happens.

It hasn't changed. The standard room is either a garden view or parking lot etc. I think the CM member was just being nice & saying she got a garden view. MHO. I have stayed standard view & gotten a garden view. :) There is price difference unless it is water view then it is more :)

We were in room 4300 when we went in 2010. One floor down and to the left. HUGE balcony and great courtyard view. Close to the elevator, too. If we go back there in Sept, I hope I get a room off that courtyard again. I agree, not really an upgrade, but a really good standard view.

FANTASTIC!

I will be going on uber budget trip so I am keeping my fingers crossed that there is plenty of pixie dust in the air, any special moment will do!
