YAY!!! Carry on allowed again

HALLELUJAH!

But CATSA hasn't updated their own site yet =/

It was just mentioned on the CTV Toronto news.

While this is great news for those flying from Canada to the United States my family and I would rather drive to Florida, because we like being able to pack as much as we want and purchase what we want without having to worry about the weight limits of our bags.

Woohoo!! I just read it in The Star and came to share, but as usual, you guys are well on top of things!! :goodvibes

So glad. I fly out in just over a week, and the worry of perhaps having to check some things I'd rather not check, was really bothering.

Finally, some common sense prevails... eventually.

Happy, Happy, Happy, so very happy!!!!
This news has made my day! I was really stressing about it.

Just trying to get the "new" regulations right again from the CATSA site:

http://www.tc.gc.ca/eng/mediaroom/infosheets-menu-5811.htm

So, it seems now while they've allowed one small carry-on, they've restricted additional "personal items" like laptops, camera bags etc to only one or the other.

I was taking my laptop and camera bag before, which with the stricter regulations I think I was allowed to do. I guess the benefit now is I can stuff a slight change of clothes in my laptop bag? Am I interpreting it correctly?

That's my interpretation, too. You can take the laptop bag as your official 1 carryon with whatever will fit into it, plus your camera bag as your exempt personal item.

I'm worried that there will, once again, be inconsistency with the newest change. How long did it take for them to all get on the same page the last time around? My sisters travel agent phoned United today - she was informed that they were still not allowing any carry-on. :confused3 I think I'm going to pack assuming the "no carry-on" rule - better safe than sorry.

Now I just have the weather to worry about - they're just beginning to mention that horrible word "blizzard" for the weekend and we fly out Sunday morning

We are still going easy on the carry ons, just makes security that much faster, our camera bag fits into the carry on, so all we will have for 5 of us is diaper bag and a shoulder bag.

Can not wait 4 more sleeps!!!

Anyone know if they are allowing rolling carry-ons again? The CATSA website shows the size limits of a small gym bag but fails to mention anything about rolling carry-ons (the one's with the wheels and handle). Any ideas? :confused3
