Hi everyone! AUNT ESTHER WANTS TO STAY AT THE POLYNESIAN!! :woohoo: :yay:

As some of you know, we just returned from our best stay ever at the Polynesian LVC (see the link to my resort report below in my signature).

Before we left for this trip, my DH's Aunt Esther asked us when we'd be going back to WDW, and said that she'd like to join us, if we didn't mind. She's a very nice woman and we told her that the spring is a good time of year to go, and that maybe next spring we'd plan a trip. She was *very* excited and told us that she "has money!!" and definitely wants to go with us on our next trip.

So while we were in WDW on this last trip (last weekend) we decided that we really don't want to stay at any other resort, and that we hoped that Aunt Esther wouldn't pass out when we told her the price of the Polynesian. We honestly had/have no idea of what her financial status is, and we also know that even if people do have a lot of money, they don't necessarily want to spend that much on a hotel. So we were well prepared to plan a trip for a different resort, although we hoped she'd want the Polynesian. lol

So... last night Aunt Esther came over for a Chinese food dinner, and to see our trip pictures, and to discuss the possibilities of a trip together for next May.

She LOVED our pictures of the Polynesian resort, and after we explained all the different levels of WDW resorts, she said "I want to stay where you usually stay, and I've always wanted to stay at the Polynesian, so let's stay there!" I got very hopeful at that point, but I knew she didn't know how much the resort cost, yet. We explained again that this resort is fairly expensive, but she seemed quite confident that whatever it cost, she'd be willing to pay. So we finally told her of the different price/levels at the Polynesian, and she said she wanted to stay concierge!! So she'll stay in a garden concierge room, and DH and DSs and I will stay in a lagoon concierge room, and she can come to our room to view the fireworks at night. :3dglasses

We asked her a few times again, to be sure that she wanted to spend that much on a trip, and she said "I've traveled all over the world, I've been on many cruises, and I've ALWAYS wanted to stay at the Polynesian resort. I have money that I put aside for my vacations, and I definitely want to stay in the concierge building there!" Ok, that was enough for us, so we stopped trying to sort of talk her out of it. lol The thing is, we wanted to make sure that she truly wanted to stay there, and wasn't just saying that because she knows we like to stay there. She has traveled all over the world, and still does, so we do believe her when she says she WANTS TO STAY THERE. lol

Anyway, DH and I are very excited!! Aunt Esther hasn't been to WDW in over 20 years now, so there'll be a lot to show her. From what we've been able to figure out, she's in her mid-70's, but she's still very active (she doesn't drive) but she walks very well and is always eager to go places and do things.

If any of you have traveled to WDW with an older relative, maybe you can give us some tips?? :scratchin We'll be using a stretch limo here in Boston, and down in Orlando, to get to and from the airports, and being at the Polynesian will mean easier access to the MK as well as Epcot. Any ideas or suggestions for things to do with a family group, ranging in age from DS16 (he'll be 17 by then), all the way up to Aunt Esther(mid-70s)?? lol

In the meantime, here's a beautiful shot of the Hawaii building that my DH just took the other day:
