Catching Up With Yavn

Thanks for all the positive comments from last week’s post. I do want everyone to know that it was in no way intended to make you feel sorry for me, or gain sympathy in any way. As those who know me and they will tell you that’s not me. What I did want to point out is that sometimes things take longer then you think to do, and sometimes even a promise can be delayed. One of the things I’d like to do here is take you through some of the steps and processes it takes to make a game. Now I also want to point out that I’m completely aware that there is no way to please everyone and it does not bother me in the least when I see negative comments about the game. It’s more helpful if you can explain why you don’t like something as it does not help to just say “it sucks.” I have a sneaky suspicion that many people will be more positive about Fireworks Remix if it was more generous with the credits. I do try to see as many comments in game and out about what’s working but it can be difficult to filter out fact from noise. So if you want to bash, bash with a purpose and try not to make it personal.

Moving on, I can guarantee that you will see the missing information in the next Yavn Speaks, complete with pictures!

So what else is going on? We are all in the typical post launch mode making notes of what is working well and what needs some more attention. As well as tuning many of the systems (Fireworks Rewards) as necessary. We have also been working very hard on the next build as well as laying the groundwork for the build after that! I can’t share much info on it, but the next content has been locked and is being built as we speak. Even the launch date is on my development calendar and believe me it’s always closer then you think. The point is that that development for Persistent World Games is never done! So if you don’t see me in the game it’s because I’m spending my time working on new content as well as spending as much time as I can to see what’s going on the in the game, and what critical issues need to be addressed.

Another question that keeps coming up is the standard “Are you really the real Yavn?” There is no easy way to do so as this is my personal project and I have no plans to go into the game and sell my own site. I have left some hints about upcoming things and if you have paid attention it will make sense that I am me! Also as this is a personal, non work related project I has no connection to the company I work for. I am very lucky that some of the very talented people on the team have chosen to write here, but it’s purely voluntary and again in no way related to our VMK duties. You may also find that the is a bit more raw then Yavn Speaks, as I have to do most of the editing myself and don’t have the luxury of a staff of writers! Let this be a lesson to all you budding game designers; pay attention in English class unlike me, who spent too much time thinking about video games instead of learning my ABC’s!

Last but not least we are experimenting with some new features on this site so keep you eyes open for some changes. But most importantly tell me what you want to see by posting your comments. It’s much easier to make interesting content when I know what you think is interesting. And while I will write about VMK, this site is not just about that.

Thanks,
Yavn

:rotfl2: This cracked me up. So now we know why we see typos in VMK alot. Video game designers don't pay attention in English class! :lmao:

Naww, course not.

Also- on a most positive note ;)- FINALLY!! Heh, this has killed my credit making, even if they make it 1/5 instead of 1/10 () then we will be satisfied. 1 credit for each point would work too, hehe
