wow september, that gives me tons of time to get in quests, considering I might only be going to wdw next halloween, and that isnt even certain yet.
so what, is everything going to end up like the new nemo "quest"

I am bummed about VMK central closing because I will be at WDW in Oct! I was looking forward to having a character born in the park so I could finally get some ears!!

Do you think they will introduce ears to the game at one point? I sure hope so. Booooo..

I would find it hard to believe there wouldn't be. It is already to hard to weed out the bad in the game as it is. They would literally have to hire more workers and ones that do their job in moderating things. But no matter what I don't think paying would get rid of those things. You have more saying they have a right to do whatever like that in game since they are paying for it. Its one of those no win situations I think. Mods didn't stick that foot down long ago when it should have been and so now look at things. :sad2: Its hard to clean up something you let go for far to long.

I don't know... I think the baby and taken stuff would be reduced if people had to pay to play. The majority of people that do that stuff are kids (and for those that aren't, all I have to say is... :scared: ) and most likely parents would be the ones paying, so I'm pretty sure if they're paying, they'll want to monitor what their kid is doing even more closely.

As for the more serious infractions that happen on the game, I think they would drop even more drastically because a large chunk of the people that do the really awful things on VMK are on the game just for the sole purpose of doing those things. I seriously doubt they would pay to do it.

Actualy that isn't true. If the parents weren't paying attention to what the kid(s) were doing with a free game they won't care to much about what the kids is doing with a paid game as well. I don't think that would change at all with most those kinds of parents. I think if the kid got in trouble and cause things to get canceled the parent might question it but then maybe not if they don't notice it being charged to whatever or not. Sadly that is the way some are nowadays. Me..I like to know what mine are doing and I get nosey about it.:upsidedow :rolleyes1

I do think it would get rid of some of those that come to the game to just act that way BUT if there is a trial time they would just use that or if there is a free part still then that instead.:sad2: But if it was to go to a pay game of any kind they need to kick up the moderating BIG TIME.

I know I made no friends by this post, but at the very least, consider the DLR-ers. Consider our despair when DLR-VMK closed up shop. You've had four more months (add a few more months with regards to the "quests" that we had at DLR) to enjoy filling out quests and getting that Red Space Suit and AK Room. When the DLR-ers were told, we got less than a month to go out and get... the HSM room, Animated Quest, and Pirate Quest?

This is true. We only had two weeks. One of the things I was most irritated about with the whole situation. LUCKILY I was able to arrange to go on the very last day (June 3rd), but I very nearly didn't and I imagine a lot of other people weren't able to change around their plans with two weeks notice.

I am not sure, but maybe VMK will expand to other Disney Stores and other chain stores everywhere.
I know somebody brought this up before, but why not have VMK Card Packets that are sold like Trading cards- Some have codes and then others don't. They have this for Sports, Pokemon, YuGiOh, and even Webikinz!
I think if VMK did this it would be a great move for them.
OR
At least expand to Disney Stores everywhere- some people don't have the opportunity to go to Disney every year, but have a Disney Store near them- Why not expand and share the "glove" :rotfl2:

The only thing is, Disney no longer owns The Disney Store. It's now owned by A Children's Place which is a completely different entity.

We all know that Disney understands about advertising and making a profit, so why don't they advertise VMK more??? I don't think they really intended for the game to go on as long as it has .. just a 50th anniversary thing. DH and I, and several close friends are very big Disney fans, and we thought we were up on all the latest Disney stuff. Yet, we did not know about VMk until a few months ago.

Actually, this really comes as no surprise. Disney is notorious for having poor skills when it comes to promotion, advertisement, and merchandising. I love their product as much as the next person, but they really get the promotion/advertisement/merchandising aspect wrong A LOT.

I loved how yavn said we have plenty of time to get the rewards when there is a 90 day wait and some can't get to park that often.

I was at Disneyland on the last day their VMK Central was open and the staff was pretty leniant when it came to that, since it wouldn't matter the next day anyway. I know that two of my five family members still had time left on the 90 days, but the guy gave one of each card to all five of us anyway. We just needed the printouts and such.

I would say this 85% are scared of scammers and not selfish and greedy to not share.

I wonder what will happen to VMK Central in Main Street. Also will they take away the stars from the Epcot Globe in the guest room as that is happening at the real Epcot.
~Spongeblair

They're taking away the stars!! :scared1: But I love the stars!

Is this what happens when I can't go to Disney World!:sad2:

I agree! Looks more like a serving of turkey leg than an actual cart. I hope it's proportioned to be placed on a table, and not a huge scary piece of furniture!

LOL, that picture has just left me feeling confused. They say they're selling a turkey leg CART, but that is most certainly no cart! However an individual sized serving of a turkey leg meant to be placed on a table is a superb idea. I've always thought that VMK needed more actual FOOD items for us to place in our rooms.

Yes BUT Disney has their say in things cause they get a nice cut from it all. They just have Children's Place running the stores now and dealing with stuff that comes along with owning stores. LOL

do u think the card trading game will be like that of pirates.. or like the tomorrowland arcade (where you exit vmk to play). What Do You Think? anyway it sounds.. fun:)

If we were to follow this logic, then VMK would take out the Disney Gallery. :scared1:

I have another theory that is possible. We are guinea Pigs

I know we went public last year after a few months of beta testing. But I feel the last two years has been a gigantic test. Seeing what works and what doesn't. I do not think VMK is up to the standard of toontown in customer service. My hubby plays toontown and he pays for it. He can pick up the phone and get a real person on the other end.

I think VMK is very different in that we do not have to use canned messages. I think the graphics are much better too. And having actual staff communicating in the game is great. The more I see what they put up with the more I never want their job. Where they are lacking is how they control the game.

I think we are still in testing mode. And once they have it up to par with the other disney sites it will become pay to play like toontown. Just as we are aware of all the scamming going on now, would you be promoting this game to kids at this moment in time.

I have noticed they have been working on a lot of safety issues. Holding come visit a staff and tell them what safety means to you. You know better to ask a kid you will get a great response. One said do not use items in a room to describe anything about you. Ie take the Kali River raft. Definately a WDW prize. All a kid has to say see that and walks (over there) I am there all the time. I am really close to it. I would never have thought this but a kid did.

So until they get all the kinks out we are still in testing mode I think.
Just another perpective. So we are gigantic guinea pigs :)

I would love to know the percentage of kids teens adults that play. I really do believe 50% would be above 18.

Sad....of course! Surprised.....Not at all. I saw the writing on the wall when VMK central at DLR closed down. It was just a matter of time really.

I wasn't planning on doing too much questing during my September trip, guess I will change a few plans.

Wow! I wasn't expecting that!

I'm happy it's still going to be open when I go down in 2 days.

And where do we go to give our opinion on the Mickey Rewards cards.??

Wouldn't it be cool if we actually got the items on our TCG cards in-game as we collected/won games with them? That'd be a nice way to get all the cool stuff. And, that's probably why that won't happen :lmao:

I'm really upset to see VMK Central go. Doing all those quests and stuff was fun. Maybe we'll get a VMK Central type-thing in EPCOT, CGA, MGM, or AK.

Hi,

There is a poll on VMK home page where you can vote on what should be done with the remaining items.
