Yard Sales - I hate it when...

The poster who thought you were rude was just stating her opinion, too. Yours wasn't opinion, though, it was a fact (you stated what happened).

My post wasn't regarding your story, just the mistake in your choice of words. You used the wrong term to describe an ethnic group. No opinions there, either (on my part).

agreed:flower3: And let me add that we have all people from all walks of life where I live and they ALL try to hagle with prices at one time or another when we do the flea market. It's what makes the world go 'round.

Amen!! Or your religious/non-religious equivalent. ;) :lmao:

After 3 consecutive annual yard sales like that, I gave up. I am thinking about trying Craig's List, however.

Not sure if I'm in the minority here, but for would-be yard sale stuff, I can't say I'm a big fan of craigslist. Unless I have something with a decent value that I'm reasonably confident will sell, but I just can't see putting in the necessary time to list an item, respond to e-mails, figure out a time/place to meet, etc, for something that maybe hopefully will sell.

That said, I do love to buy stuff from craigslist, particularly if I need something cheap ;)

Be careful, my last yard sale, someone gave me a counterfiet $20.00

Make sure you have counterfit pen :confused3

We got a $50 at our last sale (these people actually bought $48 worth of stuff!!). I was so nervous, but I decided to hope for the best. It turned out fine, but I got a pen with some of the yard sale money. :thumbsup2

I don't usually post things on Craigslist but what works well is posting your Yard Sale on Craigs List.

List your best items and give the dates, times and address.

We did that for our last yard sale and had a lot of Craigs List visitors.

These stories are scary! I am thinking of doing a garage sale to help with a Busch Gardens trip in October...I might have the drinks handy, if it's due to be warm, can get warm here in florida :cool2: Also, as for the counterfeiters, bring them on! I work for a bank, and when I was at the bank in Key West, I was a "guru" on counterfeits, so just let them try!! Best advice for seeing if it's real, check the similarities, not differences, details should be detailed, the FEEL...that's the MOST important, most counterfeits are smooth, real bills aren't so smooth. Get acquainted with real money before the yard sale, and that'll help sooooo much!! Any questions on counterfeits, pm me, I can help :dance3:

I have a question - what do you do when you're standing there (without a pen) and you think the bill is counterfeit - do you say "Sorry, I think this and you are phoney. Got anything smaller?" Maybe they'll offer to write a check instead! :rotfl:
