Yard Sale Season is here, post your finds!

Good Finds! Love the one on the left! DD8 says her fav princess is Belle! Guess I better get out there and start looking!

We've managed to find every costume for my granddaughter's Princess collection except, understandably, Rapunzel. The most common and easiest to find is Cinderella, then Snow White. We'd seen Belle costumes before but she never indicated any interest. This time she asked for it specifically.

Another thing we bought this last weekend were 5 20-gallon storage containers for $4. We'll use them to keep good clothing finds in the attic until we can send them to England.

I found a Mickey waffle maker for 5 bucks and it's worth over a 100 on eBay. Its one thing that I will be keeping. All the other stuff goes up for sale.

Are you kidding me??? Those are worth over $100??? I might be tempted to sell mine.

I believe it! My DD found my old Fashion Plates toy at my parent's house and loves it. I looked on eBay and an identical one went for over $100. Do you think I can get that kid to give up the toy... NOPE! :rotfl:

We have mom to mom sales here in Michigan which is nice since they are inside so they have them all year round. I went to two last week I got some clothes but I was pretty disapointed with prices. It seems lately people are really trying to make a profit. I think paying more than a dollar for a piece of kids clothes is crazy. Now if I fall in love with something I might pay $3 if I am a sucker that day. I bought a bunch of kids books for .25$ which was fair sometimes I see them for .75$ and want to laugh.

We are having a garage sale in a few weeks it is me and a few of my cousins we are in it to get rid of it so we are selling cheap. We have a ton of baby clothes and equipment so who ever stops by is going to get very lucky.

I guess it all depends on where you are...I'm in NY and just did a mom's children's sale late March... sold a lot of nice brands for much more than $1 a piece. I had some new Gymboree items, great condition Hanna andersson clothes, etc. and no one questioned my prices. I also purchased lots of items at the sale (including a .75 cent Arthur chapter book...I would have gladly paid .75 for more if the seller had more!!).

Same here- we just had a huge town-wide yard sale this weekend. I sold a bunch of Hanna Andersson and nothing went for less than $7.50 a piece. I had a Lands End winter coat sell for $10. Sandra Boynton books went for $1 each or 3 for $2. Crocs went for $4. But- I did have a bunch of clothes for $1-2 and not all of it sold! Everything was in awesome shape- one kid and no stains or fading.

We just bought a Hartstrings sweater which is similar in price to HA for $1. At $7.50 around here all you would be doing is exercise carrying the stuff out then back in at the end of the day.

Is this the one where you could put different "cartridges" or cards that had different textures on it and you put paper over it and rub a crayon or colored pencil over it and you can design different outfits???? I had that too and used to love it.

My best find this year was the Silver Jeans (like new) for $3.00 and the BKE jeans (a little wore on the bottom but still nice) for $0.50 it was at a dance team sale. The young girl checking us out said to her friends "some people are insane". I assume she thought they were priced way too low also. My daughter was loving the deals.
Still looking for the right frame for my Disney litho print I scored for only $6.50 in the envelope and the cert of auth. is with it. Looked it up on ebay and it is going for over $150 in an ugly frame.

This weekend there are 3 citywide sales all less than 20 minutes from my house. :cool1: Time to update my wish list.

I'm so confused... I picked up a Stitch cookie jar (holding a cookie) for $2 at a yard sale. He's not one of my favorites, and my kitchen collection is all Mickey. But he's cute and cheap.

For kicks and giggles I searched ebay for how much he's going for and found this
http://cgi.ebay.com/WALT-DISNEY-LIL...058?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item588dc65f6a

The sticker on the bottom of him is for $28 new. And if I picked him up in the cast member store (because he has a couple of chips on his ear) I would've only paid around $7. I just can't believe some one would pay double or more. On google shopping search, there's one listed for for a $100. I think he's about to make it into the Ebay pile instead of the closet shelf.

Even my Mickey cookie jar (Best of Mickey) is going for $60... geez, should've picked up a dozen when I was there. However he will not be making it onto Ebay. And if I'm not mistake, you can still pick him up in the Parks for under $30.

If you go to resell items like that chips cause a massive loss in value, which is why it ended up in the CM store at 75% off. If you notice that Ebay auction the seller went out of their way to note that the jar was in mint condition with no chips.

went to a big church tag sale. Bought a Maclaren single stroller for $3!!!!! I took off the seat cover, threw it in the wash, hosed down the rest of it, and it looks great!! I also got a huge Barbie airplane for $2 and a few Littlest Pet shop houses for 50 cents each. I wish I had more time to shop there!

SCORED today. Went to a huge, 250+ home, multi-subdivision sale. I am exhausted:)

I found a BRAND NEW, parts-sealed-in-bags k'nex "serpent spiral coaster" - on Amazon for $150, got it for ONE DOLLAR.

We found a model home that was continuously restocked with model home staging items. Went back five times. :rotfl: I got a set of 4 glass Cloche bell jars for $5 total. My friend got an awesome oak barrel for $1.

Got tons and tons of books - a LOT of Dr Seuss stuff for DS's first birthday party - and some name brand clothing for my DD6. Abercrombie, Justice - NWT, $1.

Great finds. We don't buy toys because our children are grown and our grandchildren live in England so shipping is usually impractical but that rollercoaster looks awesome.

When the grandkids came over to visit we bought 3 different strollers for $1 each then let mom decide which ones she wanted to use. We took them on our WDW vacation then resold them for $1 each after they left. We also bought a small fold-up table and chairs for the kids to use for eating, crafts etc., and did the same thing when they left.

10 Community yard sales in our area this weekend. I love this time of year :)

I just have to post b/c I am so excited about my yard sale haul today!

I bought a HUGE box of kids books (board books, hardcover books, and tons of paperback books) - a total of 150 books for $10!!! I still can't believe it. I was going through the box, and finding so many things that were in perfect or nearly perfect condition. Lots of Disney books, Spiderman books, Scholastic books, early readers, etc. She wanted 10 cents for the paperbacks and 25 cents for the hardcover books. I had a huge stack, and older DS and I were still finding books that we wanted, so I said to DH, I'm going to see what she wants for the entire box. The lady's DH said $2, and she was like, uh, no, and I laughed and said, I'll give you more than $2 for the box. My DH of course was like, I like how he thinks. Anyway, we settled on $10. I got home and counted everything out - still can't believe it! If I had paid her asking price for each individual book, it would have been $22, and I got it all for $10!! My DS' are 5 and 2, so it's great that there was such a good variety of both board books and normal books. My oldest DS is so excited to have so many new books, and I am too!!

Other finds - some kids DVDs, some new Matchbox cars, some kids puzzles, and some other books that I had picked up before coming across the big box, for about $10 total.

I also scored a Fisher Price Smart Cycle and 5 games for $30. I'm a little nervous about that find. We're going to plug it in tonight and hope that it works okay. I normally don't purchase things like that that I'm not sure about, but it seemed like it was in good condition, and they still had the booklet for it and everything.

I'm having our yard sale next Saturday. DH told me that I have to at least sell enough to make back what I spent today. I did kind of go a bit overboard.

We scored big time today too!

I found a NEW, already put together, wood set of pet steps - the 22" tall ones. No price, so DH asked for one. We got them for $10! On ebay they go for $120.

They are the perfect size for our bed. The dogs don't sleep with us, but when we go on vacation they sleep with our pet sitter. Our female has a bad back, and we owned 2 sets already, but none that were tall enough for our bedroom.

And I found a super fancy Targus laptop bag for $2. That will go with the ID bracelet I got my younger brother for his HS graduation, as my parents are getting him a laptop.

DS found some CD's - $2 each - but when you pay $.99+ per song download, $2 is a great deal for a CD.

And I found a new coffee grinder for $3!

Good day!
