We bought one last year - Snoopy sitting on his house. I'm not sure I'm going to put it out this year. I didn't love it. I may just put it on our patio and we can see it through the doorwall. Wouldn't make a statement in front of the house.

We are thinking about buying the LED lights for the house. They look pretty cool. They are more expensive to purchase, but cheaper to operate.

Any thoughts on the new LED lights?

I personally don't care for them - no creativity involved - and I'm a firm believer in "less is more" for outdoor decorating..

I also find it very annoying when I see them deflated on someones lawn.. Looks like they were the victims of a "drive-by shooting"..

We have several. No one else in our neighborhood uses them, but then again, there are very few houses in our neighborhood that do decorate much for the holidays. Most of my neighbors are original residents of this 30+ year old subdivision and are older or senior citizens, so I can understand their lack of desire to make the effort. Check us in 15 to 20 years and I might be perfectly content with just a wreath on the door too.

We have a quite a few for Halloween, since we hit the post holiday sales hard. We already had an inflatable blow up vampire Tigger. Now we will be able to add a few different elements over the years. We have a Frankenstein/Witch carousel. We have a ghost. We have a scary screaming skull. We have a witch that slammed into a monster pumpkin and her legs stick out and kick in the breeze. I would NEVER use them all in the same year. We also will use them no more than a week. I think it's overkill to decorate your yard for more than 2 weeks for Halloween.

We have two inflatables for Christmas. One is a small Santa and the other was a gift. The other is one of those HUGE faux snowglobes. My mother outlaw gave it to us....she actually bought one for all of her daughters. Luckily, the sisters live in FL. We have plans to decorate our yard for Christmas and have already put out some parts of the decor, but it's not being lit up yet. It just takes time to hang lights and stuff. This is our first time decorating for Christmas outside because we were at Disney last year and just didn't make the effort. I am most concerned at this point that we need to have some sort of big item to attach to the house between the guest room windows that will either need to be lit up or spot lighted. We will have the lights on a timer. I also want to have candle lights in the windows, but I don't know that we will get that done this year. I want it to look good day or night. We also need a new wreath for the front door. I liked the one we had for our old apartment, but it just will not work for our home now.

Ok, enough already. NEXT! Maggie

how do you get them back in the box? :rotfl:

Well, once they deflate, it's just a matter of carefully gathering up the material and folding or rolling it up towards the base. Our 4' vampire Tigger was rolled up and boxed in less than 2 minutes. I can see that our 8' Christmas snowglobe will be more of a challenge, but I really don't want to think about it right now. Maggie

They aren't really my thing. It's also no help that just about every other house around here has at least one. If the house has one AND the house is also decorated nicely, then it looks fine. I've seen some really cute ones out there.

But then there are the people who just over do it. There is one house near me that has NOTHING other than these blow up things. And EVERY inch of his lawn (including the 1 foot wide "lawn" next to his driveway, up against a fence) and his roof are covered in these inflatables!!! I am not kidding. Once it becomes that season I may just have to take a picture to show you guys. And this isn't just for Christmas, they do this on Halloween and Easter also. :sad2:

They're cute on someone else's lawn, but not mine. I honestly don't have enough room and the tree out front would block the view. I do however decorate with lights and 3-D Christmas objects like presents and snowmen.

Ha ha ha :rotfl: this very topic came along last year and that is when I was blessed with a new tag...check it out!!

I didn't vote in the poll because I like them, not love them or hate them. I can't have them, however...we had a very nice inflateable Mickey in a Santa outfit a couple of years ago; at least, it was very nice the first day. The next day, it wasn't quite fully inflating. The 3rd day, one arm did not raise at all. The 4th day, his head would not inflate. I Checked on it to see if the fan was just getting blocked or something and discovered that the squirrels in our yard apparently thought that the material he was made from made the perfect lining for their winter nests, and had chewed several holes into him! So, we stick with decorations they cannot eat through now!

We have a huge yard - and yes, I have one 8 ft. snowman inflatable in there. But, he goes up the first week of December & is down right after Christmas! The rest of our yard has other decor. I'm not a fan of an inflatable museum in the front yard!

I don't really like them.

The kids like them and DH doesn't care one way or the other... so who knows, maybe I'll give in and let them have just one.

I figure all I'll have to do if I get sick of it is set it up just a bit too close to the cactus. Should solve that problem PDQ
;)

I'm in the minority, but I think they're cute. We have a Pooh/Tigger one for Halloween, which my daughter loved. I'd like to get a Christmas one too.

I think it depends on what it is and how many. I always hated them and then we saw this adorable polar bear in someones yard a few years ago. After that I thought some of them were cute. We got a polar bear last year I think it was. I think if you have on, it is cute. If you have a lot, then it gets tacky. There is someone down the street from me and they have like 5 in their yard year round. One is a huge ribbon like those car ones, but inflatable. One is a huge football player. I forget what the others are. But they are horrible. And I hate those new snowglobe ones that they have out now that like rotate.

I say Yay!! I like when there is 1 up to accompany the other decorations.. I think it is tacky though when you see someone with multiples of blow ups in the front yard..

I have a ghost for Halloween and I do have several for Christmas but only put 1 up each year, as I alternate each year..

Nay. Simple is more our style. Well, not if our kids had their choice of course. They love the inflatables. Our house is a cape cod style and for Christmas we do simple wreaths on each window with one huge wreath over the peak of our garage with flood lights on the wreaths. Just in case we sound too "Scroogey" ;) , when the kids were younger, we did more of the "fun" decorations.

I like seeing them in other people's yards... they're cute and make takign a ride to see the christmas lights more fun.

In my yard and house however I prefer the white candles in every window, traditional evergreen wreaths with big red bows, and white lights on the garland (think colonial new england style) A huge santa just doesn't go :rotfl:

That's exactly what we do, as for the actual inflatables they were cute when they weren't everywhere. Now that lots of people have them I think they're kind of tacky.
