I don't like them but I am in a mixed marriage (my dh thinks they are great and really wants one) so I may end up with one in my yard whether I like it or not!

I know little kids like 'em, but I'd like to see people use their imaginations and put a bit more thought into their decorations. Doesn't *anyone* like to be an individual any more? :confused3

Well, my kids love to see them, so I voted Love Em.
I hate the way they look deflated though. I won't have them on my lawn, but I'm happy to have them on other people's. :thumbsup2

In my opinion they are just ok. In my two sons opinions they are magical. Seeing them through their eyes... I'm glad they are around.

I voted love them but it's really my DS who loves them. I think some of them are cute but I wouldn't put them on my lawn.

Totally OT, KingTryton, but my DS 6 is laughing himself silly over your penguin video. He's going around the house saying "That is hilarious".

I always thought they were horrendously tacky but now, I'm not so sure. I think it was because I would see the same inflatable polar bear on every other lawn but now it seems like there are so many different ones. I don't know... do you think they are gaudy?

I must be on a holiday decorating kick

I think some of them are very cute. But here in Oklahoma where the winds are awful....that inflatable would end up in Kanas with Toto.

Well I have one, and I don't think it's tacky. Obviously or I wouldn't have it, right? I think that the ones that are bigger than people's houses don't look so great, but you know what, I think if it makes someone happy, it's the holidays, so who is it hurting? Here is mine from last year, and I don't care if you think it's tacky or rednecky or WHATEVER, I think it's cute.

I think they say "I'm too tired to really decorate my house for the holidays, so I'm just going to put this huge thing on the lawn and call it a day."

I can see how that might be true if that is all someone puts in their yard but DH spends several weeks perfecting his Christmas decorations. He has a reputation around town for making our decorations look so awesome. I'm going to have to find some pics from last year or better yet from the year before when we had the first snow in over 100 years! That said, inflatables are not all that is in our yard and I'm not sure we will have any this year because we bought a house (were renting for several years) and DH is worried about killing the grass. My nephew is autistic and can't wait to see "uncle's" decorations!

My little girl adores them so this year we're adding a third. Climbing on the house and in the trees to hang lights is just beyond me at this point in my life. So if you're in my little town look for the house with the big snowman, the large penguin and the reindeer helping Santa get out of the chimney. We'll fire 'em up on Thanksgiving evening. I'll add some garland and lights to the light post out front, hang a wreath on the door, put the sled up on the porch and voila the outside decorating is DONE!

Would I put huge blow up balloons on my lawn if I didn't have a third grader? Nope. Do I worry about the tackiness factor? Apparently not too much. :rotfl:

I like them. I think they look best when there are other decorations too.

I like the snow globes, but we don't have any where to store it.

I don't mind them, but I go out of my way to see the houses that decorate in other ways (no need to drive just to see the same inflatables up all over the place). There is one house that has a front porch and every year puts a huge tree on it, and make it look like the tree is going through the roof. It Looks awesome and way creative!!! Another one that has these awesome lights all over (think National Lampoons) and the leg lamp from "A Christmas Story" in the front window. We also have a Disney Neighborhood, were all the houses for two blocks chose a different Disney them and decorate their yard accordingly with custom character cut outs and buildings. They go all out. I will say those yards are pretty gaudy too but the kids go crazy for it. So I don't mind blow up but the others are way better.

I dont mind them in other peoples yards, but would rather not have them in mind.

Hate them in my yard...I decorate very tastefully with thousands of lights :teeth: but a couple of years ago my SIL bought the huge ghastly inflatable Grinch for us, can you guess what was in the next summer's yard sale?!

I think they are cute. I recently saw a Winnie the Pooh one set up in a store Christmas display and it was adorable. I guess I'm tacky........... :)

I don't actually hate them (although that was the only option you gave, so I went with it) but I do think they are rather gaudy. (Except perhaps for that really big one that looks like one of those shakeable snowglobes, that has snow flying around in it), that one's kind of cool.

I think they look okay if they aren't over done. Now when someone puts them all over their tiny yard, I think it's too much. My daughter wants one in our yard, and for her I might just do it but it will only be for her. :) I love simple Christmas lights the best.
Ashjohnson80, I like your Christmas decorations. That's using them the right way. :) It looks very nice and Mickey is a nice touch.

Nay. I'm all about the less-is-more style of decorating. Simple and elegant. I don't like plastic decorations period. However, my DH and DD have their eyes on one of those snowglobe inflatables. If they get it, I told them it can go in the backyard. :rolleyes1

Put me in the tacky camp. DH does the lights and garland on the front porch but loves those inflatables. He makes the entire side yard an inflatable gathering place. :rotfl2: We've got big ones and littles one and the new Christmas carousel. He loves putting them up. DD lights up when she sees them. They are both so incredibly happy that I'm not going to be the Grinch and tell them no. Do we have too many? Oh absolutely!! Is it my responsibility to take care of them? Nope! I choose to pick my battles and inflatable lawn decorations is not one of them. So if you're looking for tacky - I'm in Central NJ. Come on bye! :thumbsup2
