Yankee Fans

Mickey4ever....you definitely deserve to gloat and have fun celebrating. I hope the momentum carries over to the world series. Should be a great match-up!!! BTW....I just noticed your cartoon/clipart at the bottom of the page ROFLOL!!! Too funny...I love it.

And hey...you want to start a nasty battle on these boards? Just start a Devils/Rangers thread. You'll see all the NY/NJ folks get in a tizzy fast LOL! It's something about us NY/NJ fans....if we don't have anyone else to fight with we fight among ourselves :teeth: .

As a fan of neither team, looking in from the outside, it looked like after Game 3 the Yankees just expected to phone in the next win and have a few days rest before Saturday. When it went to 3-2, all the pressure was on them and they choked.

congrats to the amish baseball team for getting rid of that yankee monkey that's been on their back for too long. couldn't have happened to a nicer bunch of fellas. wasn't rooting against him, but it was nice to see that a rod showed his real worth to a team, just like the previous 3 years.

but i'll be rooting for the red birds in ws. i guess that goes back to pre lone star baseball era.

It's a shame that fans make their teams look bad, on both ends. Enjoy your gloatting. It's been a long time coming. (And why did it take so long, by the way? ;) ) Rest up, because it really sucks to get to the World Series and loose. We Yankee fans know about that too.

How true is that, and with the "celebrations" taking place outside Fenway Park the other night, now one young college girl is DEAD. How can celebrating a team's victory include burning cars and other deeds that then cause the police to be shooting pellet guns into the crowds to calm them down, be permissible? It's horrible that a family must now mourn the death of their daughter, sister and whatever else she was to anyone else. That's what I find infuriating.

:p :p :p I loved my little clipart when I found it too...guess I'll have to retire it til next year....:p

Don't paint all of us Red Sox fans with the same brush. Just because a group of college kids, who can't handle their liquor, need to act like nitwits, does not make the rest of nitwits!!! I'm appalled at what I saw after Wednesday's game. You're right Quilt Teddy, burning property and jumping on cars has nothing to do with winning! Ask the fans of the Edmonton Oilers, who several years ago endured a whole night of unrest as their fans destroyed downtown Edmonton after losing in the Stanley Cup finals!!!

How true! Any city/team or whatever has "nuts" who don't know how to act civilized and this type of behavior usually happens after a victory. I agree, can't paint everyone with the same brush...while I'm so excited by the win, I would NEVER resort to bizarre behavior to celebrate. It is sad, but it happens...:(

I certainly wasn't "painting" every fan the same. In fact, in one of the other YankeeBoSox threads, someone was very derogatory and downright nasty towards all New Yorkers and I took exception to that. I was merely agreeing with what MRCR posted. There are those "extreme" fans shall we say that definitely ruin the entire thrill of victory for the teams.

Actually, most of the Red Sox fans with whom I've come in contact have been quite sympathetic, saying that they know just how I feel. The Sox earned this victory all the way and their fans should be able to gloat.

What's actually making me nuts is not the Sox fans who actually have something to cheer about. It's the Mets fans who have suddenly come out of the woodwork saying "Woo Hoo, the Yankees finally got theirs." Some idiot on the radio even said,
"This is better than winning the World Series." You've got to be kidding me! Let's see how Mets fans feel next year if a Yankee is running their team (Willie Randolph.)

Good point, but let's go down that tangent a wee bit further.

I went to graduate school in Boston and subsequently worked there for another three years, living on Beacon Hill. So I -- shall we say --know the place quite well.

What the pundits, media et. al have completely missed about the riot story from Wednesday night is the demographic reality of just who those "rioting" college students were.

Now, what massive, huge diploma-mill just happens to be right next to the Fenway Park area? It's called Boston University, a.k.a. "B. U." (which many locals say actually stands for "Big and Ugly,") and when I lived in Boston, we used to have a fun saying about that school:

"On registration day at B.U.,
Long Island rises a half inch out of the water.
"

In other words, a MASSIVE percentage of the student body at B.U. is from...NEW YORK.

Now just who was rioting again? :hyper:

Mikeymars...apparently you have a "problem" with New Yorkers and Long Islanders wherein you feel the need to constantly be derogatory. Don't quite understand it, but whatever. I do feel, however, that in doing so, you certainly take away from the feeling of victory that the BoSox fans should be feeling. They worked hard for their victory and should be able to relish it.

I think the point is, a young girl was killed and it was totally unnecessary. That's the point. Nothing more. Very sad for her family.

Just so I understand this... you're the one who was "concerned" about rioting in New York if the Yankees lost. Now that criminal behavior happened in Boston, not New York, after the Yankees lost, it's somehow the fault of New Yorkers? Does that about cover it? Interesting logic.

Hopefully we can just move on, and look forward to a very exciting World Series! ;)

I proudly donned a Mets shirt yesterday... :teeth:

Most people got it, but some didn't... I'm rooting for the Sox in the World Series! It's time for them to break the curse!! WOOT WOOT! :hyper:

And even though the Mets suck, I will always love them. They make watching baseball much more intense and heartbreaking ;)

YAY METS!! YAY RED SOX!! :yo-yo:

mariamouse

edited to add: I really do not like the Yankees.
