Who has been to the Yakatori House and what can you tell me about it?! Thanks so much!:surfweb:

Funny... I was wondering the same thing earlier today.

It's a counter service place in Japan. We ended up eating there twice, loved the udon and curry rice. The sushi and teriyaki thighs were kinda icky. There is a very pretty place to eat outside, it's quiet and was never very crowded.

Well..that has been the only place at WDW that we, out of many trips, have gotten really terrible food. it was cold, greasy and none of us would eat it. Might have been a fluke, but we have not been back.

DH and I go there whenever we get a chance. We like it so much that I learned how to make the sukiyaki beef and yakitori chicken. Usually, we get the udon and a Tonosoma Combo which has beef, chicken, rice and a veggie tempura on it and split everything. Now I will admit, a few years ago they tried changing the menu and we hated it but now that it's back to the original menu we love it.

We like it. Good food and a quiet place to sit inside or outside.

We call it YUKitori house, if you love grisly, fatty, nasty chicken thigh meat go for it.

Totally gross and inedible, we had to pitch it...same kind of nasty "chicken" that is served at the Mexico CS place.

We eat there on every trip and really like it. The outside area is very nice to sit in. And the food is very good in most cases. You can honestly hit any CS service anywhere and get bad food....they are all hit and miss.

Its a decent CS meal. I think the allure to the restaurant is the excellent location. So, go, get some noodles and enjoy the outside seating!

Its good, nice little outdoor place to sit and relax.

Thanks everyone for the info! Keep it coming! Any favorites on the menu that I shouldn't miss?

i like stopping in for a california roll, iced green tea and a piece of ginger cake there - it's cool, dark and quiet - very relaxing - nice place to rest!

We ALWAYS go here. As a matter of fact - I've always wanted one of my tags to say #1 Yakatori House fan!!! - where is that DANG TAG FAIRY!!!.

DD loves the Udon noodle soup. DH, DS and I share two combo plates. The teriaki chicken is made with thigh meat, which is one of the reasons I think some folks don't go for it, but it's tasty and juicy.

I also order the ginger cake, since I love a good non-chocolate cake!

Both DH and I enjoy the Japanese beer, too.

The Kio pond is gorgeous, as is the gardens here. If you're lucky the drummers will be playing while you're there.

Wow, I was thinking of getting my food there (I love sushi and asian food) and then meeting up with my boyfriend if he wanted to get something elsewhere,,,but it really sounds like there is something for both of us. keep the info coming!

The first time we tried it, DH had Cantina de San Angel and I went to Yakitori House. He wished he waited after trying my food. ;)

Can you see the drummers from Yakitori House?

Can someone tell me exactly where Yakitori House is in Japan? I don't ever remember seeing it.

We love Yakitori House! We go everytime for lunch. I can understand why some people don't like the food there, because it does seem a little like "fast food" japanese. It is counter service and you get in line, and it seems like everything is already prepared or almost completely prepared. I remember others had some sort of soup with tempura shrimp that seemed popular and looked good. We got the teriyaki chicken (not sure what it was called) but it did have thigh meat (i remember). I remember the sushi being prepackaged like how they have it at the grocery stores. I love japanese food and i really like that it is a quick, cheaper alternative to sitting down at a fancy resteraunt and waiting. I like Yakitori House best for lunch though. I am trying to remember its location, it is right at the front in Japan next to the drummer's (i think) and you have to go up some steps to it. Hope this helps!

Well, they no longer serve yakitori for some inexplicable reason. :confused3
I do like the Japanese curry there and the iced green tea.

It's on the left side right past the pagoda (on the same side of the pavillion). Mitsukoshi is across the way from it. You have to go up a little hill, right past the koi pond. There's a small gift shop at the bottom of the hill and Yakitori House is on the little hill behind it. You can't really see the drummers, since they are on one side of the pagoda on you are on the other. There is inside seating with windows facing that direction, which you might be able to see them from, but you wouldn't have a good view.
