Yak & Yeti Orlando Sentinel Review not very good

I have heard from a bunch of people that have already been there and they have enjoyed the decor and the food very much. I never put stock in reviews till I experience it myself.

I admit - I am on the fence - its currently scheduled as our last meal ..just by where we will be park wise that day...

So I am debating replacing it with Boma's or O'hana's

We had 4 counter-service meals there for lunch on Christmas Eve & really enjoyed the food & the outside eating area. :thumbsup2

Note to self: avoid Yak and Yeti.

Thanks for posting the review.

Some of the best meals I have had in Orlando are in restaurants the Scott Joseph has panned.....:confused3

I've read reviews at allearsnet.com that don't sound any better, I believe the overall rating was about 6.60. Most liked the theming but the food was not very good and overpriced. I thought about dining there but after reading many poor reviews I've changed my mind.

Wow! That was some review. We had lunch there and the service was such a problem, a manager gave us a CM discount, though we didn't complain to her or our server.

I didn't think the food was bad, but I was offended by the prices. However, I think most of Disney's TS are overpriced now. I think CS prices are fine.

Same here! A lot of people on the Trip Report circuit have tried it and most of them really enjoyed it. I never listen to reviews because I always end up liking the places that most everyone else hates. Examples: Nine Dragons, San Angel Inn, and Planet Hollywood. The only place that got bad reviews that we truly didn't like was Tony's Town Square. So we'll be keeping our Y & Y ressie for March and we'll make form own opinion.

Thanks for posting though! It was funny to read, anyway!

DW and I had a lunch ressie at Y & Y today and it was wonderful. We had the same dim sum platter described in this review along with lettuce wraps and a side of chicken fried rice. Everything we had was hot, fresh and wonderful, well, except the lettuce leaves of course which were freshly washed and cold. We enjoyed it very much. It wasn't too much for us since it was lunch and we just shared appitizers. Plus the service was great. Sometimes I think reviewers bash restaurants because it makes them feel powerful.

Those who can, do. Those who cannot, review. ;)

I have no idea if that's true or not, but I wouldn't doubt it.

Professionally, that is, not the laymen like those of us around here.

with a review like this, it certainly wont be helping the place

hopefully folks will try it anyway.

If you've paid attention, you'd realize the Sentinel is a 2nd rate newspaper. Which is notorious for negative articles on all things Disney. Guess they feel the attention is beneficial.
And a previous poster has already given an opinion on the writer.
My advice, after having eaten at Yak and Yeti and enjoyed it and I'm a picky eater, is to try it yourself. The menu is more Asian than anything so you need to be aware that the average American :cool2: meat and potato eater might be challenged.....

Honestly, when this opened it was on my must do list, but from the reviews, looking at the menu, etc, etc, I am thinking well just do Tusker House (which itself has only gotten a lukewarm reception) but its pretty hard not to find something decent on a buffet.

Wazzo, I will say this, you write a much better review than the Orlando Sentinal!

I guess my main concern with this place, is that it doesnt push the envelope far enough, looks like your basic chinese (though that pic of your shrimp tempura looked amazing!)

You're right, it really was just good Chinese food.
