My seven year old DD and I currently have an ADR for Le Cellier at 2:30 p.m. on our first AK day (which is our 3rd day at WDW). I thought we would arrive for the rope drop at AK, and then, head over to Epcot that afternoon for lunch and possibly stay for the fireworks.

I just checked, and I could reserve Yak & Yeti at 1 p.m. that day instead, and we could stay in the AK until closing. We have never seen the parade at AK. When the park closes (or maybe a little earlier), we would probably just head back to POP for a swim and bedtime.

Which would you do? I have eaten and had acceptable meals at both restaurants in the last couple of years. Any other ideas at this late date?

I would pick Le Cellier. I think the food there is higher quality. Plus, I don't think I'd ever want to spend a full day in AK, so going to Epcot for the evening would be nice.

Yak and Yeti might be more "unique" (Asian food vs. steakhouse), but I think Yak and Yeti's menu consists of rather generic, mediocre dishes. The one standout there for me is the fried wonton dessert, which surprisingly wasn't greasy or heavy, but besides that I would prefer LC.

I think AK gets short shifted by lots of folks. Stay and take the time to really explore the place. Plus IMHO Le cellier is "much ado about nothing". Longhorn has better steaks

I would hate to miss a great steak...but I think we'd haft stay at AK for the parade. There are some really cool things to see at Rafiki's hangout...we really enjoy that area!

Le Cellier is nothing special and not worth the hype. I'd choose Yak and Yeti over Le Cellier any day. Check out my reviews of both (with pictures) at the link below.

Why limit yourself and have to rush out of Animal Kingdom just to go eat... what if you find out you really want more time at AK? Are you willing to return to AK another day? Why not just plan to stay at AK longer and have lunch at Yak and Yeti.... and dinner at Epcot. Then you have some flexibility with the time in between.

I would spend more time at Animal Kingdom. People underestimate the fun to be had there. The parade is good to see at least once. It's a very different parade. Aside from the parade, we have lots of fun with the street "entertainers" and musicians. It's easy to walk past and miss out... hang out with them and have fun. Get a cariacature drawing. These things are fun but not on the list of attractions. I could spend an hour just watching the gorillas.

>>I totally agree with the 2 comments above. Le Cellier is far too over rated. There is nothing special about their steak, soup, or bread in my opinion. My steak wasnt anything magical, my dad has made far better steak than that. Actually, i had a better steak at teppan edo a day later! The soup was blah. i've had better in my hometown at my local sandwich shop. And the bread wasnt anything to write home about either. I wouldnt waste a credit on this place. Nothing good or unique about it.

;)

Yak and Yeti. I like them both, but Le Cellier is not worth a special trip to Epcot for. Plus I love the AK parade, so I'd definatly want to see that.

ETA - Also, if steak is what you want to eat, they do have steak at Yak and Yeti. I've had it before, it's good.

Definitely stay at AK. Not worth the time to trek to Epcot to make it to LC for lunch. That time is better spent at AK, which is a lovely park. Y&Y has a very nice decor - lots of unique pieces - and the food is pretty good.

Lecellier gets no love?????

IMHO Y&Y is good LC is better. I would not cut my day short in AK however just to go to lunch at LC AK has so many great things to offer that you can really spend the whole day there, well till at least thru lunch. The parade is great and for the PP that mentioned the gorillas i have to agree with you:thumbsup2

Even though we have never eaten at Yak and Yeti before, I chose Le Cellier because it is a must do lunch for us on our first Epcot day (the first full day at Disney). We also don't ever park hop so then again, I guess I should of chose Yak and Yeti because when we are in a park we stay there, unless we are heading back to the resort for our break. Good luck deciding.

Wanted to add that we had a very good lunch at Tusker House when we were there in May (we had reserved seating for the Nemo Musical), I would definitely look into that too...of course I mean the restaurant, unless you are interested in the Nemo Musical show then I would highly do the dining package for that.

We enjoy LC but I really like the AK parade too. So since we also like Y&Y I voted that. I like the idea of lunch at AK, staying for the parade, and then either dinner & Illuminations at Epcot or else a fun night in the pool at your resort

Have fun!!

We will be trying LeCellier on this trip so I can't compare but I can tell you that Y&Y is a favorite for us! DH is very picky and loved Y&Y, the food is excellent and the atmosphere is fantastic. :thumbsup2

Ditto these comments.

Buy the Imagineering Field Guide to AK. It is really interesting. If you find yourself with time to kill, just take a slow walk around, and see the lengths they went to in designing and building AK.
