We've never been to either, but there is a debate within the family as to which one to choose. Also, does either provide indoor seating or a nice shaded area to eat?

If you're referring to the Yak & Yeti counter service location, I prefer Tusker House. Neither place has indoor seating.

The Yak & Yeti table service restaurant is the best option.

We eat at Flame Tree anytime we visit AK. It's one our favs in all the parks. The outdoor seating is nice.quiet, and secluded. It's a great place for some peace and quiet. The food is really tasty. My DD7 is a very picky eater and even she loves going to Flame Tree. Okies know good BBQ and if you like BBQ you wont be disapointed. We have only eaten at Yak one time and were not impressed.

Definitely Flame Tree. Y&Y CS food is ok at best (good Asian beer selection for a hot day) and seating is only in the hot sun in a busy, crowded area. FT food on the other hand has always been excellent (for a CS) and there is a lovely seating area in the forest (as well as a shelter) where you can relax, enjoy the surroundings and music. No contest on which is better (but that's not so say I wouldn't eat at Y&Y CS again).

My family loves Flame Tree! If I remember it correctly, there is a lot of covered seating and some pretty decent views. The only problem we face there is my niece is terrified from the moment we get there due to her fear of birds...there are tons!!!

I've not been to the Yak & Yeti CS before and won't be at the sit down until this Dec...so sorry can't say anything about those.

if you go to flame tree, do NOT sit at the first pavillion. it was a few trips before we found out that, if you keep walking, there are many pavillions further in, with water views, shady, quite secluded and pretty. (most peopl just sit at the first seat they come to).
we always loved it. that being said, it has gone a mite downhill. they did away with the corn on the cob. then they did anway with the corn bread.:sad1:

We loved Yak and Yeti... wonderful service, interesting decor, and food was overwhelmingly delicious... But we were at table service and I heard that is better than their counter service.... But I do keep hearing about the ribs at FlameTree BBQ so I have to wonder about that as well......

We didn't like the food at Flame Tree - is there anywhere good in AK that's air condioned (counter service)?

Not really. The best CS food is FlameTree or Tamu Tamu (walkup window in Africa that sells Tuna wraps and Cheeseburgers). Both are outside. Pizzafari is inside, but Disney pizza is awful. If you must go there, then get the Caesar salad or Italian Hogie.

We like Yak & Yeti TS for lunch. You can sit in the nice air conditioned restaurant, the food is really good, and the prices are reasonable. We were there 2 weeks ago and there was bar seating available (no age limit) for meal and they were taking walk-up. We had a reservation and were seated within 5 minutes.

For CS service in AK by for it is Flame Tree. The BBQ is good. Nothing against Y&Y but with a name like YAK sorry :rotfl2:

I don't know if I was really hungry or what but I loved the ribs at Flame Tree. :thumbsup2 We have definite plans to go there this August when we are there. I have not been to the other place so I can't give a fair comparison.

Last week we discovered Restaurantsaurus in Dino Land. It was your typical, but good, burger/hot dog/salad counter service food with a very good topping bar but the best part is 4 air conditioned indoor dining rooms! We thought we were in heaven.

I love both! They both have excellent food. If I could only choose one to go to, I would choose Flame Tree purely because of the gorgeous views over the water.

We have been to both. No contest, Flame Tree was much better than Yak and Yeti CS.

I know I'm in the minority, but we do not like Flame Tree at all. We've tried it twice and were not impressed either time. We tried the CS Yak & Yeti and thought it was pretty good, but neither CS option has indoor seating.

I wouldn't call that a Hoagie...

We found Flame Tree bland and we're from Jersey;)

Both my wife a I enjoyed the CS selections at Y&Y, yummy!

TGM says the Flame Tree Barbecue will be closed for refurbishment from Aug 9 - Sep 19, 10. It will reopen on Sep 20, 10.
