Yak and Yeti?

Well the pics look interesting. I think it will be really cool looking when it's finished. I want to do Tusker character breakfast and Yak and Yeti dinner in April.:woohoo:

Someone posted on TourGuideMike's forum that a WDW Dining CM told them Yak & Yeti wouldn't be opening until after the first of the year?!?!?! Can anyone here confirm or deny this?!?!?

Just got off the phone with a really nice cast member who said it's not in the system yet but expecting it very soon.

Watch, I will get reservations for my trip and wind up hating it. Want to bet that's what happens????

I can't remember where I saw it, but I had seen a menu for Yak and Yeti and after seeing it, decided to skip it.

Wow! How on earth did you see that? Was it posted at the AK? Do you you remember what kind of items were offered?

I don't think a menu has been released yet. But some people have been confusing the place with a restaurant of the same name in Colorado.

Just for fun I went and looked at the menu of the Colorado restaurant. I must say, I would LOVE it if "our" Yak and Yeti had a similar menu!!!

As would I!

But I'll bet it's going to be more along the lines of Chinese food than Indian. :(

I'm not so sure of that. I believe it will have a different feel that any other WDW restaurant, probably Indian with a touch of other asian cultures of the himalayas.

Yak is a bad name for a restaurant...what about just Yeti, sounds like you might could keep that down...lol.

Well, the press release said this:

This Asian-Fusion concept will feature Asian decor, complete with Asian antiques, as well as a retail component that will offer Asian goods ranging from Sushi plates to chopsticks and fine teapots.

That part doesn't sound like India to me. Sounds more like Japanese and Chinese stuff in a Nepalese/Indian themed environment. :confused3 Besides, they're going to want to serve what most people want to eat, not necessarily what fits into the Himalayan theme. So I'm betting on potstickers, not samosas. :( Believe me, though, I hope I'm wrong.

I was thinking the same thing. I would be ashame to play it safe. There are tons of other safe eateries in Disney. I think so far they really dropped the ball as far as dinning in AK is concerned. It would be nice to have some CS locations that offered regional fare.

Well, Everest is located between Nepal and China (Tibet) so chinese was expected, but they could include some other dishes from south-east Asia.

Asian fusion can be just about anything, but Tibetan food isn't Chinese (I'll stop myself before I go on a rant about the illegal occupation of a sovereign country). It's more like Nepalese food. I guess I figured if they're selling sushi plates and chopsticks in the shop, they weren't going to worry about serving terribly authentic regional food! :rotfl: But then, I don't really want to try tsampa or butter tea!

when I called last week they said they didn't even know that it was supposed to open in mid-November and said that it's possible that they'll receive the official information less than a week before opening and only then they can start the ADRs

I just called the other day to ask if they were taking reservations and I talked with a CM who said that usually they get a blank screen referencing the restaurant at least a month before they can start taking reservations. She said that she hadn't received the screen yet so she was clueless as to when they would start taking reservations. She said that since Teppen Edo didn't open on time and they had to call people back and cancel reservations, the people at Disney were very hesitant about taking any reservations until they knew for sure that it was going to open on time.

We already have reservations for the Tusker House and I was going to change them to the Yak and Yeti but I've decided to leave things as is after speaking with her. She told me that the Tusker House buffet will be similar to Boma because it will have an African feel. The Yak and Yeti will be more Asian and will probably have dishes with lots of peanuts in them (I'm allergic.) So, I guess DS, DH and myself will walk by and maybe visit the CS part of the restaurant (She also hinted that the CS and TS may have different names) but I think that's it.
