We will not be going but the ship is calling here on both repositioning cruises so I will at least get to see it.
Nikki hope you'll manage to post a photograph :teeth:

If the Med cruises had been Santorini, Kusadasi, Kreta, ... we would go immediately. But I am not paying all that money for France, Spain and Italy.
Those places you mention would be great cruise destinations, but you've got to remember that these cruises are being aimed at people from America first and foremost, and they're not going to come all this way and spend all that money unless they are going to places that they recognise (i.e. Rome, Naples, Marseille etc.)

LOL, not American, but would have preferred those ports!

OT, but what's the best way to get from DLP to Barcelona?

I guess flying however possible to drive.

There is also an ovenight train. we took the train severl years ago and it was an experience. The cheapest we have done was Ryanair flights from Girona to Beauvais.

Thanks for all the Suggestions!

Now to see if I can get on the boat!LOL

I wonder if they have a special rate when you sleep in a lifeboat :rotfl:

Sadly - they won't let you sleep in the lifeboats.

Heh -- there will be a group of us on the Repo Home -- Janet & I our part of the group.

How bad was the overnight train ? We saw one link where you can get the first class compartment /sleeper - .

The only problem I have with flying is the baggage issue. We will be carrying clothes for the 2 weeks of cruise (evening outfits in garmet bags) and casual outfits for the day. And after a stop at DLP - we will be overweight.

How much does Easyjet charge - the bags coming from US - will be about 50 Lbs each ( approx 25 kilos), for overlimit baggage ?

The train is ok. We had a cabin for 4 and that way you dont have problems with your luggage. An other option would be to hire a car. With the big companies this is possible that you pick it up in france and drop it off in Spain. There of course will be a premium for that but it can be done.
Easyjet are very expensive for extra luggage. As you know the dates you are travelling try www.iberia.com as soon as the flights become available( about 10 monthes before) They often have some cheap seats when the flights are first released. Tey can be more flexible about luggage as the flights are filled with business travellers.

I would have like to have done the "repo" but DH wasn't so we've plumped for the 11-night one. To me even though these ports are more on my doorstep than the American market's one I'm just too lazy to explore teh rest of Europe when I have Disney calling my name all the time. So I see this as a win-win for me - I get to see some of the cities I've wanted to go see but I'm with Disney at the same time - perfect and I don't have to lug my luggage everywhere to go from city to city as it's all in my cabin, even better.

I've just been looking at Easy Jet for some friends who are visiting us from Philly and they're also going to South of France and Paris too but I had to warn them about the luggage on Easy Jet as :

"one standard piece of hand baggage to maximum dimensions of 55x40x20cm, and a free allowance of standard checked-in hold baggage to a maximum weight of 20kgs (44 lbs)

A fee per kilo for excess weight over these allowances is charged prior to departure.

Each passenger is allowed a maximum hold baggage weight of 50 kilos (110 lbs) including any sports equipment, subject to available space. As items of sporting equipment are inherently unsuitable for carriage by airlines, easyJet is prepared to carry such items on a ‘limited release’ (i.e. entirely ‘at your own risk’ for damage or delay) basis. You may therefore wish to ensure that you have suitable private insurance cover in force for such items. The maximum weight for any single piece of baggage is 32 kgs (70 lbs). Freight or cargo items cannot be accepted as passenger baggage.

You can pay a fee of £15.00 or 22.50euros for additional baggage max to 32kgs.

Where your total checked-in hold baggage weighs more than 32Kgs, normal excess baggage charges as set out below shall apply in addition to the above fee:

GBP 5.00 per kg (where 1kg = 2.2lbs)
Euro 7.50 per kg

Hope that helps

My parents had a rental car one year to go from France to Spain (our car broke down in France insurance company paid for the rental car)

I'll ask what company it was and if they have an idea about the cost (I don't think so, they didn't pay it!)
