A YAGE (Yet Another Grand Exit) is an interesting internet phenomenon, a dramatic cry for attention and for pleas of "no, please don't go!" that plague and disrupt many forums.

These are often accompanied by bitterness and attacks on the forum membership or the moderators, and add nothing to the value of a forum.

To add to the drama, the perpetrators often don't even leave after the big announcement, but use the drama as a platform for further disruption of the forum.

Many forums consider these trolling, as they are simply intended to stir the pot and create ill will and trouble. If any member wishes to stop posting, all they have to do it.... stop posting!

I'm inclined to agree that this is a form a trolling and serves no useful purpose here. We love this community and its members, but members come and go as their interests and life demands change. No need to leave us loudly, blasting and attacking in the wake of a dramatic grand exit.

To any departing member, we wish you the best. But we don't need a thread about it. :)

Kathy,

Members come and go but surely a community should ask itself why?

Anyone who has questions or comments about moderating decisions should address those to the webmasters via email, at admin@wdwinfo.com.

There's no value in debating those on our forums.

Kathy,

Members come and go but surely a community should ask itself why?
Yes, that is my opinion as well. Something is obviously bothering some people and making them feel like they should leave; it's a shame there can't be a discussion to try and make things right so that everyone can stay and be happy here.

I agree, i thought this thread was opened so it could all be discussed as i've already read this message on the previous thread which was closed. Shame we can't discuss things and sort stuff out.

So why air them on here ? just go to the top, and let your views be known there - it's quite simple really

Thanks Kathy - I`ve already followed the advise to contact the administrators.

Can I also add that members here of the YAGE syndrome , are not trolls but previous very valuable members of this community.

I`m sorry this isn`t allowed to be discussed.

I thought this thread was opened for discussion, as Emily said.

 Evidently not, so I will take your advice and "go to the top" (?!)

Again, any questions or discussions regarding moderating decisions should be addressed to the webmasters (admin@wdwinfo.com) and are not open for public debate.

Additionally, my advice to anyone addressing issues to the webmasters is to be direct and complete with your information, using names and examples. Hinting around using vague information is not really helpful in communicating your concerns and gives us nothing to investigate or consider, wasting both your time and ours.

That said, our moderators act on the behalf and with authority bestowed by the administration here. We expect that the community will cooperate and show respect to ALL participants here, posters and moderators alike.

here is my two penneth.....

I m extremely passionate about the uk boards, i have made some very good friends on here ( both real and virtual) mainly due to my willingness to attend meets and take part in exchanges, at a very low point in my life one night a very kind disser called me on the phone and another friendship was born.

I support everyone on here as best i can regardless of wether i know them or not ! unfortunatly there are people who love an argument and they spoil it for everyone else.

The moderators on here do a fine job and they do it without thanks most of the time, i appreciate them very much :)

I am not looking for an arguement, just an explanation which is being refused at every road I take.

Rob

As this is a community board I do not understand why we cannot discuss what the problems are. As long as everyone can remain civil and no mudslinging takes place I think we should be allowed to discuss why people are unhappy and leaving. I also think it is unfair that posts keep being locked or deleted, on the main community page they discuss very controversial issues and the posts never seem to get locked!!

I have been a member of the dis for 3 years now and have loved being a part of it and it really saddens me what is happening now.

I agree entirely Jen. I admit to mainly lurking, and I know that only a few people 'know' me, but have met some very kind and helpful DISers on here. I used to enjoy the feeling of community that was present on these boards, even if I was not always brave enough to contribute. Unfortuneately that seems to be disappearing lately. :confused3

What I am trying to say is that surely a community belongs to all it's members, (not just those with thread locking power), and as such they should be allowed the opportunity to discuss their views and work towards rectifying any problems? No-one posting on these threads is trying to cause arguments, instead they are trying to return the wonderful community spirit that used to be present here. I hope it will be able to return, but fear that preventing freedom of discussion will prevent this from happening. :sad2:

Sara. :)

I have been too scared to say anything but I do feel I have stepped into some kind of alternative reality.:scared1:

I hope I wake up soon and everything will be back to normal.

i have been on the boarsd for over 9 years now
Yes they have changed, for the good i don`t know
i feel pasanate about disney, and try to offer advice if and when i can.
Have seen several subjects crop up aggain and aggain, which means new members coming to the boards which is great for the dis boards
I have the same opinions as some who have done YAGE,but because of my love for disney try not to do the same as i like to help outher people who whant to know about disney
Yes there are some things i dont like, but in a democracy we have to grin and bear it,but there voices have to be heard
