Anyone recently eaten at the Yachtsman? My DH enjoys a good steak and this is one restaurant we have always wanted to try.

I have eaten there 3x in the past 2 years, the last being in December. All 3 meals have been absolutely amazing! :thumbsup2

I have eaten there 3 times in the past several years and have always had a good experience. We have had great service and excellent meals!

The food is very nice, but our server was not great. The restaurant is chilly.

The first time I had dinner there (10/03) the food and service was great. The last time (9/05) the service was 'ok' and the food left alot to be desired. I haven't completely written it off, I may give it another try, sometime, but with all the other great dining possibilities (Shula's, California Grille & Le Cellier) it's definitely not high on my list.

We have dinner here just about once every trip. Our most recent meal was this past January. If you are a lover of steak give it a go as we have never had a bad experiance here.

Here are our Yachtsman Steakhouse recaps from our last dinner there:
After the fireworks were over, we walked over to the Yachtsman Steakhouse for our 9:45 priority seatings. We were not impressed by any of the appetizers, so we didn’t order any. I had the filet mignon, with crushed potatoes and a red wine sauce. The filet was lovely and rare, and smooth and tender as butter. The crushed potatoes were a bit dry, but had an interesting flavor. I enjoyed everything I ate at this restaurant.
I had a glass of Caymus Conundrum with dinner, which was as smooth and delightful as it was a few nights before.
Andy had the 12 oz Angus New York Strip Steak with Maytag blue cheese and mashed potatoes. His steak was very rare, too, and he enjoyed it with the blue cheese sauce. He had a glass of Joseph Phelps 2000 Cabernet with dinner.
For dessert, we shared the sampler platter for two. The White Chocolate Macadamia Nut Pie with cream cheese and whipped cream was good, but very, very rich, and I think that Andy enjoyed it more than I did. The Jack Daniel’s Mousse Cake with a raspberry coulis was excellent, very chocolatey, but again, very rich. I enjoyed the refreshing tartness of the Florida Key Lime Pie with a graham cracker crust, whipped cream, and ladyfingers. The strawberry sorbet was also refreshing, but the crème brulee was overcooked – the top layer of sugar was too burnt, and it interfered with the flavor of the dish.
When she brought our desserts, our server Susan also gave us a rose and a tray of cookies that said “Happy Anniversary” around the edge of the plate. The Cast Members all went out of their way to make our stay a magical one.

Here's our review from our Dec. trip. Yachtsman remains one of our favorites!

Dinner – Yachtsman Steakhouse, Yacht Club
The Yachtsman is one of our favorite restaurants at Disney, and we go every trip. We usually go near the end of our vacation as a kind of send off. We were 15 minutes early for our 8pm PS b/c we were there to get the Happy Holidays pins. Contrary to normal Yachtsman style, we weren’t ushered into the lounge to wait, but only asked to wait in the “chairs” area. We only waited about 2 or 3 minutes before being taken to our table.

The past 2 or 3 visits to the Yachtsman we’ve just gotten bad tables. I don’t know what it is. This trip was no exception. We decided to stay, though, b/c we had the same server we’d had from our March trip, a very nice, friendly young man named Zach. The only real hitch to the evening is that we spent so long chatting w/ Zach that they ran out of the sweet onion rolls, and those are my favorite! A group seated after we were got some of the rolls, but we didn’t b/c we were chatting. Too darn friendly for our own good, we are. But no, it was worth it.

Anyway, we decided to forego an appetizer this time. Mom ordered the filet mignon and I got the Land and Sea, which is two small filet medallions and a (huge) lobster tail. When I say huge, I mean huge. I’d hate to see the lobster that sucker was attached to. The medallions had a cabernet wine sauce which created a nice, mellow contrast to the sharp bleu cheese also served on them. The mashed potatoes w/ both our meals were wonderful. We really like mashed potatoes. And filet mignon. Both of our steaks were excellent, btw, and we enjoyed them thoroughly. Our verdict, though, was that the best steak we had all week was at Tchoup Chop.

For dessert we ordered the dessert sampler. I love dessert samplers. It had white chocolate macadamia nut pie (our favorite!); raspberry sorbet (very, very smooth, not too sour); key lime pie (tart, smooth, yummy); Jack Daniel’s chocolate mousse (much better than we remembered, very delicious); and an excellent crème brulee. Again, a wonderful choice if you can’t make up your mind on which dessert to order!
