Next up on our adventure into acceleration is a trip to DCA with....
Incredicoaster!
Originally Incredicoaster opened as California Screamin' in 2001, the same time the park opened. This version closed in January 2018, reopening 6 months later as the new Incredicoaster, themed for The Incredibles and coinciding with the release date of The Incredibles 2.
The ride just sneaks into the top 5 fastest rides across the Disney parks, with a top speed at the launch of 55mph (88km/h), reaching this in 4 seconds. It's also the fastest ride at the
Disneyland resort. It features a track length of 6072 feet, making it the seventh longest steel rollercoaster in the world and third longest in the US. It is also the worlds longest steel rollercoaster with an inversion.
The original safety announcements for the ride were recorded by Dee Bradley Baker, and they were then updated in 2010 with Neil Patrick Harris, before being replaced with the Incredibles retheme.
Unusually there have been a few incidents over the years with Incredicoaster, albeit before it's retheme - including one train rear-ending another in 2005 and a backpack falling out of a train onto the track in 2007 causing a train to valley and the riders needing to be rescued by firefighters.
As always, I'll leave you with a ride POV video and one of my awful ride photos (front left)!
Thoughts on Incredicoaster anyone? Love it, hate it?
I loved it. It was one of my favourite rides at the Disneyland resort. I was expecting it to be really shaky and rickety but it was so smooth and really fun to ride.
