Yachtsman vs Steakhouse 71

Won’t be going back to Disney until January 2026, but was just thinking of steak at Disney. Looking for thoughts and comparables. We aren’t fancy or food connoisseurs, but do like treating ourselves sometimes. An example would be we usually exclusively stay at Choice hotels (mostly Quality Inns) when traveling, but at Disney we stay at the Yacht Club more often than not.

Looking at prime rib it’s $20 cheaper at Steakhouse 71 than Yachtsman. Wouldn't those be similar taste wise, or is Yacht really going to be that much better?

Then I was thinking of a ribeye, and how we could go to Yacht for that. What would the comparison be? Would you equate it to more of Ruth’s Chris or Texas Roadhouse?

We have been to Ruth’s Chris and was thinking if Yachtsman was kinda comparable to that it would be a nice splurge. If it’s more like Texas Roadhouse not so much.

We’ve eaten at Yachtsman’s many, many times & Steakhouse 71 a few. We prefer Steakhouse 71 for lunch. Yachtsman's is a signature restaurant but not a Ruth’s Chris tho. YS is several small rooms/ areas with tables spaced nicely, service is elevated, the meal a more relaxed pacing. IMO the quality of meat is better than S71 & you get bread service with your meal. S71 is basically 1 large room, tables can be very close together in some spots & reminds me of a school cafeteria. The meat is fine, not anything special. But the price reflects that. You must order & pay for bread service, it’s not included. I think foods at both places are definitely better than roadhouse. Although, YS rolls are better than Texas Roadhouse, lol.

I absolutely love the ribeye at LeCellier. It’s amazing. But again, there you’re sitting very close to other diners & it’s in Epcot, so you need park admission. Lots of people recommend Shula’s at the Dolphin for steaks. We’ve had mixed meals there & haven’t been in a few years, so can’t comment too much on that.

Unless price is an issue & you’re really wanting to save , I don’t think Steakhouse 71 is worth a trip from YC. We pick Yachtman’s, LeCellier, Narcoosee’s @ GF or The Boathouse @ Disney Springs for our better meals.

Thank you for your thoughts! While price is a consideration it’s not my determining factor. If it’s worth the upgrade I don’t mind. I pretty much just didn’t want to go to Yachtsman and get a ribeye that’s like the ones I get at Texas Roadhouse (which I love by the way) when I could save a few dollars and get similar at 71.

On our last trip we went to Steakhouse 71 for a later dinner, and I was very disappointed in the service and the quality of steaks. We prefer the boathouse at DS. I will say if you do decide to go to Steakhouse 71 get the potato bread it is more delicious than the steaks.

I haven't eaten at Yacht but I am one of those who LOVE Steakhouse 71. It is a MUST for me for dinner every trip. However, I do the top sirloin so I can't comment on the ribeye or the prime rib. I have never had a bad steak. I also strongly recommend the potato bread for an appetizer and save room for the chocolate cake. I am ALL about that cake.

Why only between SH71 and Yachtsman for prime rib? I had it at Yachtsman this past spring, and although it was very good, it wasn't the best on property. But the Yachtsman garlic rolls are outstanding.

To me, you should go to that sneaky little place at SSR called The Turf Club Bar and Grill. The prime rib was prepared perfectly, a massive size and was very reasonably priced ($39, the same as SH71). And the setting at that restaurant, is quiet and relaxing. Because of how small it is, I would still recommend an ADR.

Pretty much for ease. We will be staying at YC, and 71 is easy from MK. I’ve read SS and OKW are close to DS, but we don’t usually go there. I did notice both Turf Club and Olivia’s had prime rib. Glad to hear that Turfs was good also.

I gave Yachtsman one chance and I won't be going back, I'd compare it to a Longhorn Steakhouse, nowhere near Ruth's Chris.

I gave Le Cellier 3 chances with steak and that was 2 chances too many. I'm not sure they even use Certified beef, nevermind Prime.

I've had steak at a couple other restaurants but they weren't actually steakhouses.

Two of my favorite steaks at WDW were at Flying Fish, with a crusted NY Strip, with a better atmosphere than Yachtsman. And, Shula's, I've had various steaks at Shula's and they were all good with excellent sides too. I haven't had the prime rib there.

We've eaten at Steakhouse 71 a few times, once for a fantastic Thanksgiving dinner, and, have also eaten casually at the bar which is lots of fun, no steak there YET though.

Le Cellier… lol!! That’s like a Ponderosa Steakhouse.
Actually, I remember some years back when it was actually cafeteria style. Got your tray, slid it down the metal rails as you ordered various things.

I could not imagine putting that in the Signature category.
