Yachtsman Steakhouse

there are loads posted on jabeads thread over on dining reviews (live from Disney) if you just go onto page one you'll find them on the contents page. :)

Also had mixed experiences here. The worst being one hour wait for food!. When I complained to the manager that this was the sort of service I would expect from McDonalds, he quickly took care of all of our drinks and only charged one credit. Considering it is 2 credits normally, I have had much better value (steak meals) from Grand Floridian Cafe for 1 credit.

The only photo I have is of the special dessert we had in December. It was a Yule log and everything on the plate was edible. I can find the photo if you want?

Following the mixed responses above we have eaten there 3 times last year and everytime the food and service have been excellent! And two of those times were OOP as we don't do the DP unless we are out of points and book the OKW deal which was the case in the summer so that time we did use credits.

We ate there during our first stay as we were onsite (BC), but the service was poor and the steak was chewy. We chose not to eat there again, even though we stayed at the YC the second time. :(

However, there have been such excellent reviews and we are staying at the YC again this year, that we have decided to put it down to a one off and give it another go.
The steak is supposed to come from the same kitchens as the Captains Grille, which we ate at all the time, so it should amazing! :worship:
Time for a second try I think! :bitelip:

We will be trying Yachtsman for the very first time in March, for my DD's (21st) Birthday meal. I know it gets mixed reviews but I've always wantd to try it so figure we'll give it a go since we're restricted to eating on-site for that trip.

I have some pics on my camera. In December we had a cheese board, prawn cocktail, filet, new york strip, peanut butter dessert. I will upload the pics at the weekend for you and some more details.

honestly in October 2012 we went to YS for the first time and our meal was outstanding. possibly the best restaurant meal of my life ANYWHERE but restaurants around the world have good and bad days and what works for me might not for anyone else. Look at the photos and give it a go :goodvibes:

Sorry if these are huge, I'm new to posting pictures.

Slightly rubbish pic of the rolls. There is 2 types, one is the most amazing pull apart onion rolls. Also comes with a pot of roasted Garlic.

This is DH's Shrimp Cocktail - fennel, chervil, meyer lemon gel, house cocktail sauce. He really didn't like this, he said the prawns were very 'fishy', I tasted them and the definately had a distinct flavour.

This was my Cheese Board, to the left you can see the crackers that came with it, the silver pot was from the roasted Garlic. This was nice, I preferred the one at Citricos though.

I had the 8oz Filet, but changed the mash for the truffle fries. This steak is probably the best I've ever eaten, I finally understand the saying 'melt in your mouth'.

DH had 12-oz "Prime" New York Strip Steak - gruyere potato gratin and peppercorn bandy sauce. He enjoyed it but said mine was best.

For dessert we both had some sort of Peanut Butter/Chocolate creation. Maybe someone can help me out here? I think the ice cream was Salted Caramel. It was lovely but very rich.

As it was our anniversary they also brought us these lovely chocolates
