How is this for dinner? How is the food? What about the service? What time do they open for dinner?

Ate there in December and to our surprise, had vastly improved over our last visit. More 'gourmet' than the last time, service was great. It was my sis' birthday and w/o mention (only on original room ressie) she was given a birthday button, amd her own special menu that had 'happy birthday' wirttein on the top, and then after dinner rec'd her own speical dessert cake with candle. I do wish WDW would stick more to the dress code they try and enforce, ambiance gets taken away w/jean shorts and tank tops and flip flops in there.

We loved it last xmas week. Great steaks(filet and NY strip), wonderful sides and very good service.

I think it opens at 5:00 or 5:30. But don't make a reservation for the opening time. Everyone will be seated at the same time and the servers can be a bit overwhelmed trying to make each table happy. Make your reservation for about fifteen minutes after opening time. Then the people who were seated earlier will have their drink orders in and your server can give you more attention.

That being said, Yachtsmen still ranks as my most favorite dinner ever and we've eaten at just about every Disney restaurant. If they still have the garlic spread, that makes the meal. Just be careful - you will smell like garlic for a few days if you eat too much (like my husband did!).

The Yachtsman opens at 5:30pm, the steaks are great - handcut daily all of their food is made fresh daily.

I have celebrated many birthdays there over the last 3 years and many people I have taken there have asked when are we going back. Service has always been exceptional!

The management and chefs are great in this restaurant! Just celebrated 3 birthdays there in Dec which were awesome and will be back there 12 days! Can't wait!

Thanks for the comments. Have only been here once and it's been awhile. Am on the deluxe dining plan and thought it would be a nice, relaxing place to dine near Epcot. Sorry to hear the dress code has slacked off though, but glad to hear the food is so good.

We just had dinner last week at Yachtsman.....food was excellent and service was great. DH and I had NY strip and DS had Porterhouse.......all very good. I also agree about dress code......we ate at Yachtsman, Narcoosee's, and Artist Point and at all three we observed quite a few people who completely ignored the dress code and looked like they were going to the beach or pool.

Glad to hear such great reviews. Am looking forward to dining here. As this is a solo trip, it gives me the opportunity to dine at some of the nicer sit down restaurants. I usually wear nice jeans/pants and a nice top when dining in the nicer resort restaurants. I think I would just feel to akward wearing shorts & a shirt that I would wear in the parks to the nicer restaurants.

It's classy and elegant with wonderful service, atmosphere and of course FOOD.
:thumbsup2

Perfect. Thanks again for all your input. Am looking forward to dining here.

Ive dined there 4 times in the past 3 years and each time it has been amazing! Love it! :goodvibes
