"Wow! That certainly qualifies as horrible service. Frankly, if I couldn't eat my meal because it wasn't prepared the way I requested, and the waiter never came back to check on me, I would have insisted that the meal be comped! I mean, if he never came back to check, he didn't have an opportunity to make it right, so I would have asked for it to be removed from the bill."
Funny, you should say that... we were in Savannah, GA, eating at the Pink House, one of the older known restaurants in Savannah... My husband ordered flounder, it said it was scored, the waiter never told us anything else. When the fish came, it was a full presentation of fish, without the eye, so that meant it had not been boned and skin on. Blech!!!!! My husband was sort of picking at it, but once he had a bone in his mouth that was it. The manager came over and asked if there was something wrong...DH told him he had no idea it was the whole fish, bones in and was having difficulty eating around the bones. The manager said your waiter should have told you it was a full presentation....he had not.
Skipping to the end, we did not do dessert, bill came and we were charged for the fish even though my husband did not eat it, even though the waiter had not told us it was full presentation and even though the manager was aware of the issue......I know some would argue over these matters and quite frankly I think they should not have charged us for the dinner, but we pick and choose our battles and why ruin the night by fighting for them to take it off the bill. They should have done the right thing and not charged us...they did not. I would never recommend this restaurant to anyone.
Lately, I find the less frills at a restaurant, the less you expect and the more pleasantly surprised you are.
