Yachtsman steakhouse or Concourse steakhouse?

We ate at the Concourse last year. To tell teh truth we were not that impressed. It was so long ago, I can't tell you wht were we not impressed, but I can just remember walking out of there and saying to my wife, "I was not impressed." I hope this helps.

Can you be more specific?

Have tried both. Yachtsman was clearly the superior restaurant. However, on several occasions the Concourse just seemed to make sense based on transportation(it's a monorail hotel), and that it was a simple steak dinner. We enjoy the atmosphere at the CR with the monorail running through the hotel, and they have some of the best shopping in WDW.

That said, Yachstman excels, and the dessert sampler is :earseek: :earseek: :earseek:

Oh! Thanks for asking! I love telling this story.

I ate at the Yachtsman with my parents and sister a few years ago. At the time, I was 23 and my sister was 25. When we sat down at the table, the maitre d' (Alan) made a big show of whisking away my wine glass and my sister's. When he came back with the menu, I asked him if I could have the glass back because I planned on ordering merlot. I had my driver's licsence in my hand and was prepared to give it to him. I look young and get carded all the time, even now.

Alan actually stamped his foot and said "I don't think so, young lady" and walked away. He ignored our table for the rest of the night. When he walked by later, I motioned for him to come over. I said, I know you are doing your job, but I am actually old enough to drink. It's not a bad idea to card people before you take their glasses away. I thought that was it.

When we left the restaurant (after our mediocre meal) I smiled at old Alan and said, "I hope you remember what I said, it will save you some trouble in the future." At that time, he took me by the shoulder and said "Honey, I asked the whole waitstaff and no one thinks you are older than 15." That's when all hell broke loose.

I couldn't believe he asked "the whole waitstaff" and never bothered to ask me for my ID. Alan started asking other Guests how old they thought I was. I was SOOOO embarassed.

The story ends with Alan being dragged into the lobby by the manager (and my irate sister) to apologize. Even his apology was rude.

I got a call a few weeks later (after I wrote to mgmt.) and they profusely apologized. I really appreciated their efforts, but will NEVER go back to that hotel or restaurant.

Oh my God! That's the worst restaurant story I've ever heard! I hope you can laugh about it years later, lol...I trust "Alan" has been fired, or at least was thrown in Crescent Lake with a bottle of the most expensive Merlot tied to each of his ankles.

Oh heavens no!! That's too good for him!

How about two bottles of the cheapest home made wine you can think of. Expensive merlot would truly be a waste.
