Yachtsman or Brown Derby On HS Day?

Hi all,

I keep going back in forth on which to do for dinner on our HS night. I've always wanted to try HBD, but I think the Yachtman has a better looking menu, and is a better value on the DXDP. But then I'm also taking into consideration the convenience of HBD, rather than traveling by boat to the Yachtsman, especially if it's gonna be chillier at night.

What would you do?

If it's a Fantasmic night, I'd go to Yachtsman. If it's not, I like HBD. Fantasmic Dinner Packages have ruined the ambiance of a once really nice place but I still like HBD if it's not a zoo in there.

I prefer the food at HBD. I'm not a big steak eater and HBD has some great choices whereas Yachtsman offers mainly some so-so steaks.

We do not use the dining plans but I would take food value/taste over monetary value.

I agree with the PP on Yachtsman if its a Fantasmic night. I would also choose YSH if you want a break from the park. However we love BD and if you are planning on touring HS more I would choose that option.

Prior to November, I would have said HBD. There have been so many reviews in the past year about how "average" YSH food is. I ended up eating there one evening because it was the only place that had open reservations at the time. We had a fabulous meal. We ordered the cheese plate appetizer with a bottle of wine before the meal and relaxed. The steaks were sweet and melt-in-your-mouth. It turned out to be the best meal of the trip. (and this time we went to all the Premium restaurants).

I wholeheartedly agree on YSH if the decision is coming down to food. I would definitely fit it into my plans but given the convenience factor to HS I wouldn't discount BD. It certainly does not seem to get much love based on DIS reviews either.

Both are great. We loved the food at both. We stopped doing DxDP or DP so I'll let you consider value question. The boats that run back and forth are covered, so you would only have to deal with the weather during the walk or waiting for the boat.

We only do parks every other day. So, if I really wanted to eat at HBD, then I would have to while at DHS. Personally, I try to minimize travel time during the park days, so I would go with HBD.

I really like both places, so I would pick HBD in this case for convenience.
