We're going on an illuminations cruise and was thinking of going to the Yachtsman Steakhouse for dinner beforehand - any thoughts??????

Awesome choice! It's a must do for our family every trip.

Order the chateubriand for 2!!

DH and I went there last year and loved it. We ordered the chateaubriand for two. It was scrumptuous! I think I even loved the sherry mushrooms better than the beef!!! DH also ordered us a dessert sampler...yes, yes, YES!!!

I can't say enough about this place. The food is fantastic and the service is top notch. It's DH and I's favorite place in WDW!

We had an amazing meal there on our anniversary last year and we are going back again this year. This was my review I posted last July....

YACHTSMAN STEAKHOUSE- This was mine & DH’s anniversary dinner while DM took the kids out. We wanted something different and a little nicer than what we usually do with the kids. I had a tough time deciding where, but after going over the menus and deciding we wanted to be in the Epcot area, I finally settled on Yachtsman. I still second guessed myself up until the end. Well, not to toot my own horn, but I did a great job picking! This was an absolutely perfect meal.
We arrived about 15-20 minutes early for our 7:00pm PS and were seated within minutes. The restaurant wasn’t very crowded. I made sure to take note of some things I often hear discussed here. We saw kids of all ages there and people in all kinds of attire. This didn’t bother us at all, but since people often ask about that, I thought I would mention it. We were seated away from the windows, in a little cove with just our table and another. The people next to us were leaving so we were basically alone for most of the meal until another family with teens came when we were finishing up.
Now onto the good stuff…We started off with a drink. DH had a Sam Adams which was served in a huge glass that looked like a chalice. The glass itself was very heavy and it was frosty. It was so cold there was ice on top of the beer. DH already loved this place. I got a White Russian which was very well made. I was also given a water without asking and I was glad because I was very thirsty. We then got a Caesar salad to split, which they brought in 2 separate plates for us. This was a great salad and the flavor of the dressing was perfect. With our meals we split a side of creamed spinach, which was covered with melted cheese. I had never had this before but for some reason it looked appealing to me. We were both surprised that we loved it, and we finished it all. For our entrees, DH had the Filet Mignon with mashed potatoes, and I had the Prime Rib, also with potatoes. These steaks were cooked perfectly and tasted great. They were very tender and flavorful. I cant even describe the mashed potatoes, but they were amazing. They had a different flavor to them, that we just couldn’t place. Whatever it was, we loved it. If anyone knows where to find that recipe, please direct me to it. I should mention here that Im not usually a big fan of mashed potatoes. Ill eat them and I like them, but when I get my choice of a side at a restaurant mashed isn’t my first choice. I just had them because the meals came with them… and Im glad it did. After declining dessert because we were too full, the waiter brought our check and asked how everything was. In raving over the meal I mentioned how I had wanted something special for our anniversary and I was so glad that we chose there. No sooner did our waiter leave and come back with a sampler plate of cookies & chocolates with “Happy Anniversary” written on the plate. We almost felt bad because we were so full but we manage to pick at most of them so we didn’t look ungrateful. Everything we tried from there was good too.
While this restaurant was a little more pricey than we are used to paying for just 2 of us, between the food and the service, it was well worth it. It was really an incredible meal and Im very glad that we chose to go there.

We had our first meal there on our last visit. It was a family meal to remember. Great food, great service and lots of memories. Plenty of food for every member of the family. We will be there again in August.

VERY GOOD.

I think the prices are quite comparable with other fine steakhouses across the country, personally. I had the surf and turf, which was not the cut last listed on allearsnet menu but instead a filet and lobster, so I was QUITE pleased as I refuse to eat anything but filet ;) DH had the bourbon NY strip and it was very flavorful and not bad for being something other than a filet =) The scallop appetizer I had was incredibly delicious as well.

I posted the pics in a review I made a couple of months ago if you want to do a search for it... I have been too lazy to post them in the Food Picture thread at the top.

I'm so glad to hear all of the good reviews!!!

We're going for a 35th wedding anniversary of my SIL's IL's (does that make sense)?!?! I'm planning for everyone and I'm hoping for someplace that everyone will like!

It's okay. We've been their twice. No need for us to go back.

I was beginning to wonder if it was just us. While we loved the rich, creamy taste of the creamed spinach, the sherry/wine in the mushrooms was a bit stronger than we prefer. But, it was the steak that disappointed my daughter and I the most. Just a personal preference thing... as we like them, they prepared our steaks on the rare side of medium rare. What wasn't to our taste was the "flavor" of the steak. Other people may like it, but we did not... it had a bit of a charred taste on the outside with no real flavor inside. I'm not a fan of charring... I guess my tastebuds are accustomed to mesquite grilled steaks and the steaks my dad does on the grill.

We ate at the Yachtsman last week and were in the minority that didn't care for it. My steak was burnt, not seared, although I ordered it med-rare, and the atmosphere was nothing special. We liked le Cellier much better the last time we went there two years ago.

Thanks for asking this question. I was wondering about Yachtsmans myself, so I am glad you asked. Being that we live in a major beef state, I am always hesitant to order steaks in states that arent known for beef.

Best Steaks on Disney property. Aged about 30 days on site, cooked on a natural Oak grille. Great wine list, great service. The "pull-apart" onion rolls with the garlic spread butter melts in your mouth just like the fillet!

Since you will have to be at Bayside Marina around 8pm, be sure to arrive at YSH by 6pm so your meal and enjoyment are not rushed. Also, tell your server that you have to be out by 8pm, so you can catch your cruise.

Enjoy!

We did Yachtman's several weeks ago and we all loved it. We had a great server named John who took very good care of us too.

We've had some fantastic meals there including our wedding dinner. We ate there for our anniversary and my steak was perfect but Rick's t-bone was full of gristle. The waiter was efficient but not very friendly.

Bad, good? No....GREAT! And Oscar is the best server there!

We ate there on Sunday evening June 5 AFTER watching Illuminations.

It was great. We were the last people sat, so the restaurant was quiet. The food and service were as I expected it would be.

I had the Surf and Turf, and must say, both were done to perfection.

We love it too and I don't care for beef. We always try to eat there at least once and After Illuminations. Service is great, food is wonderful, great wine list and ds adores the desserts. Enjoy :sunny:
