Can't decide where to have dinner my last night at WDW. I was thinking of one of the following:

Yachtsman Steakhouse, Coral Reef or the California Grill.

I've dined at the Yachtsman once in 2001 and the Coral Reef for lunch in 2000, but never dined at the California Grill. I'm somewhat picky, but like what I see on the menu's so far.

Grill ?'s: Can you make adjustments with the side dishes? What I mean is instead of "cheddar potato gratin" can I just get plain potatoes? Also, what are the chances of getting a table by the window, if you're dining solo? Where is the terrace located off the Grill to watch the fireworks? Am I going to feel very out of place dining there solo? What does Warm Valrhona Chocolate-Banana Bread Pudding taste like?

Here is a vote for the CG.:)

Unless you prefer a variety of steak choices (Yachtsman) on your menu or want to specifically dine with the fishes (Coral Reef) this one is easy. CG is a far superior restaraunt to the others, IMO. But of course personal taste and what you're looking for (menu items) will always play into the picture.

Chef John at the CG was formerly the chef at Flying Fish...

Hi.. well it is your last night... what else are you up to that night or do you want to go to bed early?

I would vote the Coral Grill and EPCOT as after dinner you can see illuminations...

But if you don't want to be in a park that night then the Contemporary and the California Grill might be a nice way to end your trip.

There are 2 observation decks off the 15th floor, right by the CG. Staff will direct you. We don't want to take a chance on getting a table with a view, so we schedule our meal either before or after the fireworks and enjoy watching from the observation deck. So many people are celebrating 'events' and there just aren't enough window tables to go around, plus some (rude) diners may leave their seats and try to crowd around the window, blocking the view. I've read that the waitstaff is very willing to cover your meal to keep it warm, if you want to leave the table and go out on the observation deck --- but I don't want to let that wonderful, and fairly costly, food just sit.

I agree--CG would my choice. And as kda said, don't wory too much about a window table. Fine if you get one, but we always interrupt dinner to go out on the deck.
Also-as a "solo" option, believe you can sit right up next to the open kitchen area. Make for good conversation, etc.
