Yachtman or Flying Fish ... DH wants Steak!

DS and I went to Disney without DH last year and even though DH thought he wasn't as big of a Disney lover as DS and I, he is regretting that he didn't go. So we are going back in December!

DS and I upgraded to deluxe dining for free dining and spent 11 days stuffing ourselves. We loved it! We are going with the deluxe plan again and want to try more of the Signature restaurants (tried Jiko & Cali Grille last trip).

I want this trip to be special for DH. He loves a good, non-filet steak (We will be going back to Jiko for the mac & cheese filet for DS and I). He suggested we try the Yachtman but I have been reading some not so great reviews. I have also read several reviews that say the FF steak is wonderful. Does anyone have pics? Additional reviews & comments would be appreciated. I want to be able to show DH this thread.

(And yes, it is way early! Can't even think of making ADR's til Sept. But this winter was awful & this trip is an unexpected surprise. I am already obsessively planning! )

Both Yachtsman and FF are among my favorites at Disney. The NY strip at FF is indeed very good, but it is the only steak on the menu. Yachtsman has a wider selection of steaks, all of which are very good.

Don't be scared off by a few bad reveiws of a restaurant. Every single restaurant at WDW gets both good and bad reviews.

Yep, I know that every restaurant gets bad reviews. DH is a strip steak lover so that is just what he is looking for. DS and I prefer filets which we will have at Jiko & Le Cellier so I was kinda hoping to go to FF so we had some other options. He and I are both just begining to try fish and I have read a lot about the snapper which I have never tried and may be brave enough to attempt.

Decisions, decisions ... and gee, only 6 months or so to make them!

Half of our family are steak nuts, and we love Yachtsman! We're going back this summer .

Both are great places, but if it's steak you want it's Yachtsman hands down. DH and I have eaten there almost every trip and have had nothing but great service and great food. Don't let bad reviews stop you from trying anything at Disney. Happy planning

DH said the best NY Strip he ever had was from Flying Fish...he loved it so much we are going back in June and probably Oct just for that steak

He was very disappointed in the Yachtsman, the ribeye was not good, so fatty there wasnt any meat to eat so he sent it back for the filet and he said it was pretty blah

We went to FF in 07. Me, DH and my DB all love seafood---so it was a great restaurant. My DSIL HATES seafood (but you know....3 to 1 always wins, right? ). She ended up getting the steak and loved it. She asked for hers "without char" and since it's cooked over an open flame it still had some char which she was okay with. I'd definitely recommend FF...I'm going to try to make an ADR there this trip.

I just read your FF review and once again your pictures have sold me on trying a new restaurant! DS and I both want to try to snapper and DH was drooling over the steak! Thank you!

It sounds like you have already decided but I thought I could add my two cents - my DH and I had an adults only trip in Feb and we ate at FF - my DH had the steak at FF and said it was among the best steak he had ever had - and yes we have been to YS a few times.

Not to add to the mix BUT having already said Yachtsman....DH really loves the steak at Narcossee's.

You hubby will want Flying Fish, hands down.

Yachtsman is highly over rated! If you know good steak..you won't want to eat at Yachtsman.
