Yachtman or Citricos for a good steak?

I can only speak for the Yachtsmen, very much enjoy our steak entrees( me filet hubby has tried all) from there, sometimes twice on our 2 week vacation.

My hubby and I ate many, MANY steaks on our May 2009 HM and Yachtsman was our least favorite. We had filet at Jiko (twice - it was just that good!) + California Grill + Hollywood Brown Derby + and both were far better. This trip we'll be trying Le Cellier + Citricos and I'm SURE one of us will have steak at those restaurants.

I have eaten at Yachtsman 6 times. I have had 2 good steaks in 6 visits, both of those were the filets which you can get at any WDW restaurant. The other cuts have been underwhelming.

Citricos is a much better restaurant overall although steak would not be on the top of my list on their menu and in all of my visits to this restaurant, I've never ordered a steak. The meals I've had here have been outstanding.

Don't know about Yachtsman but we had a wonderful upscale meal at Citricos. We dined with DS4 who was relaxed and quiet while we talked about our Disney day over dinner. Check out the reviews... Citricos, more than any other restaurant, is consistently rated very high with no complaints.

We also like the Grand Floridian Lobby... just relaxing and listening to the orchestra play... and get some soap and bath stuff from the Basin White store there. They also sell soap with Mickey Mouse ears in them...

We've eaten at both (plus others that are likely to get mentioned like Jiko, AP and FF) and you'll have a good steak no matter which you chose. My choice would be Yachtsman though. The steak will be cooked exactly as you ask for it to be done. Love the filet there.

you could always try shula's steak house! it's always been awesome when we have went. expensive but well worth it.

I was at WDW 2 weeks ago. Had a filet from the Wave, Le Cellier, and Chefs de France. They were all good.

But the winner was Bistro de Paris, the Filet was like heaven on a plate. It was bigger, more tender, and tasted better then all the others.

BTW I didn't order a steak at Citrico's but the service was the best we had all week.

We just went to Yachtsman last week and my hubby who doesn't even like steak got the 24 oz. porterhouse and said it was the best steak he ever had and ate almost all of it. Likewise, a friend who was with it said the same thing about his steak.

I've had steaks at both and to tell you the truth was not impressed with either restaurant's steaks. Odd enough the best steak I've ever had on property has always been the charcrusted steak at Flying Fish. I've had the filet, the strip, and the porterhouse at Yachtsman and the charcrusted strip at Flying Fish has always been MUCH better. I'm from Texas where we have good steakhouses on every corner and I can still drool over the one at Flying Fish.:rotfl: The Yachtsman's and Citricos I could take or leave.

OT: I also like Flying Fish's desserts better than either Yachtsman or Citricos and prefer their appetizers over Yachtsman's. I love the crab gateau at Citricos though:cloud9: and could make a meal on the Flying Fish's tomato/mozzarello salad and mussels.

We ate at Yachtman's during our recent visit. We had the 24 oz Porterhouse. My husband and I agreed it was the worst steak ever. We order our steaks medium-rare, so the steak came out medium rare on the inside with a charred outside. There was no seasoning on the steak and the charred outside gave it a bittery/burnt taste. Also the steak was very fatty. Some people may like their steaks this way, but it was not for us. I was so disappointed that we wasted 2 TS credits on that meal.

I had an oak fired Ribeye at Yachtsman that was very good three years ago -haven't fit it in since. At Citricos I always get the Osso Bucco and suggest it to anyone - it is very good and fits into the cow-supplied meal criteria for steak lovers.

between those 2. I have had both and Yachtmans Filet is the best of the 2.
Order of Preference:
1. Yachtmans
2. Jikos
3. when it was around. Le Celluiar's maple glazed filet.

I've only ever been to Yachtsman, but it was by far the worst meal I have ever had on DIsney property.

IMO, Shulas in the Dolphin Hotel is the best steak on Disney property. The experience is well worth the price. Save your pennies and share a coldwater lobster tail to go with the steak.:cool1::banana:
