Yacht v. Beach

I prefer the YC because all rooms with balconies have FULL balconies. The BC has some rooms with those single-person "Evita" balconies. ;)

Both are lovely resorts, I just prefer the full balconies and the decor of the YC.

I think it mostly depends on your decor preference. The YC has a nautical theme with blues/reds/etc., and the BC has a beachy theme with pinks/aquas/etc. I have only stayed at the YC (my next trip will be at the BC), and I loved it. A CM that we talked with said that more families stay at the BC and more adults stay at the YC, but we certainly saw kids at the YC too. We did enjoy our full balcony, but we don't use it a lot, so the BC should be nice too.

The YC is a quieter because BC has the pool, all the restaurants, the kids' club, the arcarde, the gym, hairdersser and other things on the bottom floor.
We prefer the YC, but my parents stayed at BC last year and loved it (the got bumped to concierge...what's not to love!!)

I agree with the other posters that it is mainly a matter of decorating prefernce. The YC has a more sedate feel to it. It has a lot of oak wood, brass, and sort of deeper colors. The BC has lighter wood, pastel colors, less formal feel. Both are nice though, and it wouldn't be a hardship to stay in either!

The only other thing that comes to mind is the YC is just that much farther when you're walking home from Epcot after a long day. You have to walk all the way past the BC before you get to the YC.

We are staying at the YC due to the newly refurbished rooms. I think they are refurbishing BC but I don't know when they will be complete. It's always nice to have new bedspreads, curtains, and carpet.

Most of the Beach Club has been refurbished, I saw pictures of the new rooms, and they look beautiful!!!! I also was told that all rooms would be compleeted in March!

Does anyone know if the BC refurbishment includes putting daybeds in ALL rooms? I could swear I had read that not all rooms had them, but CRO says they do... I just want to make sure because we'll have 3 generations in one room (3 people) and my daughter LOVES sleeping in the day bed.

Erika, some of the rooms are just too small for a daybed! Did you see the YC/BC FAQ? There is a link to maps of the floors.

I think in your case it would be helpful to fax or call the hotel a few days beforehand & request a room with 2 queens and daybed. Ask again at check in. Good luck!

On the reservation request it says guaranteed smoking, preferred maximum bedding. I've read where people have said the hotels try to grant the 1st request... so I pointed out that the maximum bedding is MORE important than making sure my mother can smoke in the room...

I definitely will be faxing in that request!

The balconies at YC were the deciding factor when we stayed there a couple of years ago. Even though it was HOT, we had a lovely full balcony overlooking the quiet pool. Also, had daybed, which was great as well.
