Yacht Club or Boardwalk?

DH and I are booking a last minute trip for a long weekend in late July. We have had AP this past year and went on 3 trips with the kids (ages 5, almost 2) but found cheap airfare and thought why not go just the 2 of us. I'm super excited about eating at Yachtsman Steakhouse and going to Jellyrolls! We almost always stay at The Poly with the kids to be on the monorail and it is by far our favorite resort. However since we are primarily interested in AK, Epcot and HS I think it would be wise to stay at BC, YC or BWI. BC doesn't have any good passholder discounts but I can get a Garden view at YC or a Standard view at BWI with the discount. We will probably get in the pool but either of the pools are fine with us. I think YC is maybe $100 more total for the trip so that's not a deciding factor. Biggest factor is how nice are the rooms? How much construction is still going on and YC? Which location has easiest access to things like drink refill stations? And I am giving YC an advantage because I have heard there are fewer kids although BWI has seemed quiet when we have visited there.

BWI!! We love BWI, it's our go to resort.

We have been to YC a couple of times, but we like the BWI location better. BWI rooms are very nice.

Just the opposite from previous poster, YC for me, it's my favorite resort at WDW. I've stayed at both, I've stayed at all 5 Epcot resorts (I'm counting Swan and Dolphin and counting them as separate) and would stay at any of them any time. I tend to go with whichever one is less but if given a choice YC for me. I haven't been there since they started reno. so can't say about that. You really can't go wrong with either one. My only problem with BWI is that you have to go out onto the BW for any meals, not a big deal but there is that. I kind of like the quiet pools at YC/BC a little better to.

Either resort is nice but I give the edge to YC. A garden view room at YC is nicer than a standard view at BWI. I don't like the long hallways at BWI. And the only food options are outside, on the Boardwalk, except a few muffins for breakfast at the bar. But it is a lovely resort. :)

The YC is still under refurbishment, although rumor has it they are working on the 1st and 2nd floors now. So they are almost done. The refurbished rooms look great. :)

But either resort is fine. :)

Love them both, no bad choice honestly.

I love the Yacht Club and you get that beautiful view of the Boardwalk at night from the YC/BC side of the lagoon. The first time I saw it, I cried a little! YC was very quiet and we loved the decor even pre-refurb. Dang now I'm dying to go back! We didn't like the Boardwalk Inn room. Just wasn't my style.

I think you'll be happy with either choice, honestly. I prefer the Yacht Club, but that's just because the decor is more to my taste.

YC is undergoing heavy construction this summer, which makes BWI the easy choice. Several posters who stayed at YC recently have complained about noise. BWI is technically undergoing construction as well, but it's minor & exterior, unlike Yacht Club. BWI is also the prettiest resort at WDW, imo.
