I just made a standard room only reservation at the Yacht Club for July 2004. This will be our first stay there. Can someone suggest a building location for a standard room? If at all possible, I want to avoid a parking lot view. Thanks.

John

I can't beleive no one has stayed in a standard room at the Yacht Club. Anyone?

johnnyr,

The Yacht Club is only 1 building, not like Caribbean Beach. It does have LONG hallways, so it kinda gives the illusion of being separate buildings.

I usually stay at the YC with a standard view, and I have either had a parking lot view or a garden view. If you must, call CRO & ask to make a request that you'd like a garden view room. Of course, it won't be guaranteed, but at least they know. Besides, they may "work the pixie dust" & upgrade you to Concierge! :D

Whatever you do, I'm sure you'll have a great time! ::yes::

YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YC RULES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks, Mimi70. I didn't realize it was one building. My kids are excited about Storm Along Bay. I wanted to avoid a parking lot view if at all possible. Although, it wouldn't ruin my trip. After all, it's the Yach Club! Thanks for the suggestion. I'll give them a call back and see what they can do for a garden view. Do you know if that is a different rate that standard view?

We just returned from our first stay at the YC. You're going to love it!!! Watch for future codes on www.mousesavers.com & you may be able to get a pool/water view for about the same price. This happened to us.

We had originally booked at the BC on a Disney Club rate & then codes came out for the YC. Getting a pool/water view at the YC was a better rate than the standard room at the BC.

We had stayed at the BC before & loved it so even though the hotels are connected I wasn't too sure about staying in the YC side. I thought my kids may be disappointed. We loved it, loved it, loved it better than the BC side!!!! It was quieter & although I could be imagining this, the rooms seemed bigger & just roomier for some reason. It could be because we had a corner room. I loved sitting on the patio at night (we also had ground floor) to read & just watch people walk by on the Boardwalk.

I think you'll love the YC - no matter what kind of view you get & you'll have a great time at the pool. The walk to EPCOT is great & you can also get a boat or walk to MGM. Have a great time! I'm jealous even though I just returned from there less than a week ago!!

Last November DH and I went to WDW by ourselves and stayed at the YC for the first time. It became our favorite WDW resort. I hope you love it as much as we did :D !

We, too, booked a std view room. Using information from the Y & BC FAQ on this board, we reqested a garden view room on the lake side of the resort on a higher floor. We were given a perfect room on the 4th floor overlooking the wedding gazebo with a view (from the balcony) of the BWI across the lake. Aside from the great view, we were only steps from the elevator. We couldn't have asked for more - especially with an AP rate of $169 a night :D !

Have a wonderful stay at my favorite resort ::MinnieMo !!

Definitely request garden view/lake side. We did this. We were actually given an upgrade to waterview and felt so lucky! Garden view rooms generally tend to be of either the gazebo or of trees. Sure beats the parking lot and I think you would have a good chance of getting your preference providing there is a room available.

With the YC having balconies with every room, the view really comes into play. Sitting on the balacony enjoying the view became as much a part of our vacation here as going to the parks. You'll love the YC. As you can see from my sign-on, I do. Enjoy!!!:Pinkbounc

Hey! Thanks for all of the great advise. I can't wait to go now! I just called back and asked that my reservation be changed from a standard view to a garden view. The CM said the standard view room is the same as the gardview room. Does this sound correct?

John

Yes, the standard room is the same as garden view. However, it is the same as parking lot view. Make absolutely sure they put "garden view" as a request on the reservation. I would even have them put "lake side" in it to try for an even better view. Good luck!

johnnyr,

Look on the YC/BC FAQ's thread (here on the DIS)- there are floor plans with room numbers. Last summer I sent a fax requesting a certain block of room numbers on either the 2nd or 3rd floor & I got a room in the area I requested. It was a "garden view" on the lake side that overlooked the wedding gazebo. Absolutely wonderful! We've stayed at YC 4 times & always ask for a "garden view", and we've always gotten it. The YC is awesome - we hope to return this summer if AP rates come out. Have a wonderful time!:D

and we asked for a nice view and the cm said"you booked a standard view and you will get just that" We overlooked the gravel roof top of a service building. Hey, they used two different gravels on the roof to make a pattern.......... Hope you get a better view.... When they say the hallways are long......... they mean it....... Won't stay there again.
