NBA is over and Yacht club is open, why is there no availability or very very limited availability? Seems like it would be wide open.

Because all the other hotels are closed. 55% of all WDW room inventory is unavailable.

The Yacht Club is the only Deluxe hotel open in Epcot area and one of only TWO Deluxe Resort hotels open right now (the Contemporary Resort being the other one). The Grand Floridian goes on-line later this month. Those are the only three Deluxe Resorts planned to be open for 2020. The rest only have their DVC side open. The Poly reopening was delayed until sometime next Summer and the rest of the Deluxes do not have any reopening date at all.

All the cash hotel guests who had existing reservations at The Polynesian, Beach Club, Boardwalk, Wilderness Lodge, Animal Kingdom Lodge and some moderates have been consolidated to the CR, YC and GF (or moved to DVC studios). Also, now there are (apparently successful) promotions going on with discounts up to 30% off these three Deluxes through Christmas.

According to the Disney website the resorts that are open will be
limited capacity. Keep checking, people do cancel.

I was looking to book YC for arrival Thanksgiving weekend as soon as AP rates were released. There was plenty of availability Thanksgiving week. However starting Wednesday Dec 3, YC was fully booked, nothing available even at rack rate. It is booked all that weekend & things open back up the following Sunday/ Monday. I ended up booking 4 nights at YC & 2 at Riviera. Might you be interested in doing a split stay?

My thought is there might be a conference that isn’t cancelled yet that has rooms booked. I remember reading that there is a big medical conference at YC that was cancelled, but the attendees were allowed to keep their rooms at the reduced rate. I’m just not sure if that conference is for those dates.

I do think it is something more than just being the only open deluxe hotel in the area. Rooms are available at a discount for Thanksgiving & Christmas week. It definitely is strange for the first weekend to be fully booked when discounts are available for the holidays.

I just booked YC for the weekend before Thanksgiving (11/20-11/25). Contemporary and Grand Floridian were the only other Deluxe options.

So yes, it looks like there is still a medical conference scheduled at YC the first week in December. The dates match up to the dates the resort is fully booked. If the conference gets cancelled or many participants cancel, rooms may open up in the future.

I hope this is true that availability will change for that week. Originally booked BWI for that week, moved to BWV, but switched to Riviera thinking that I wouldn't want to spend all my time at YC or in EP area directly. Well, after more thought, would like to have entire time at YC so that I can walk to both EP and HS my entire stay.

I booked Friday, September 4 at 2PM for Labor Day weekend and got a room. Guessing there must be some big event for whatever dates you are trying to book. Also booked Oct. 5-8 yesterday with no issue.
